$32.14-$32.14 The salary of the finalist selected for this role will be set based on a variety of factors, including but not limited to departmental budgets, qualifications, experience, education, licenses, specialty, and training. The above hiring range represents the University's good faith and reasonable estimate of the range of possible compensation at the time of posting. Position Summary The State Pre-College Enrichment Program (S-PREP) is a free academic and college preparation program for 7th-12th grade students in New York City. Its mission is to increase the number of students pursuing careers in healthcare and STEM. The program offers academic enrichment courses, career development workshops, college advisement, and educational field trips. Preceptors serve as lead instructors, teaching enrichment courses in math, science, and electives. They are responsible for lesson delivery, assessment, and student engagement, with the support of program staff and facilitators. This role offers valuable teaching experience and the chance to inspire and mentor future healthcare and STEM leaders. Course offerings will include, but may not be limited to Biochemistry, Calculus, Algebra, Chemistry, Brain & Cognitive Science, Geometry, Ready for Pre-Med, Physics, Anatomy, Algebra II/Trig, Biology, Pre-Calculus, College Readiness, Environmental Sci., Computer Science, Ready for Dentistry, Ready for Emergency Med. Responsibilities Preceptors will report to the S-PREP Program Administrators within the Office of Student Diversity, Inclusion, & Belonging. Specific responsibilities include but are not limited to: Supporting the preparation of program sessions including classes, special events and other program related activities Preparing a course description, outlining the goals and objectives as well as prerequisites for assigned course(s) in alignment with provided syllabus/course blueprint. Deliver course instruction using the provided syllabus and submit updated materials if revisions are made. Design engaging class activities and administer quizzes, exams, and/or projects Evaluate student performance and provide feedback for bi-annual evaluations Track student attendance and participation Chaperone field trips, college tours, and conferences as needed Attend & support special events (opening/closing ceremonies, workshops) Providing recommendations for program improvements and or colleges for students Completing administrative/clerical duties as assigned Minimum Qualifications High School Diploma Preferred Qualifications Education/training in science or mathematics (required) Strong leadership, organization, and communication skills Prior teaching/tutoring experience preferred Commitment to fostering an inclusive and supportive learning environment Available during the 2026 Summer Program Equal Opportunity Employer / Disability / Veteran Columbia University is committed to the hiring of qualified local residents.
