Beneficent Church is seeking a self-motivated, part-time Summer Sunday School Assistant to work collegially in providing dependable, safe, and nurturing religious education to children and youth. The Sunday School Assistant reports to the Director of Christian Education and works cooperatively with the staff team, attending and participating in meetings with staff, parents, and the Christian Education Committee as needed. The Sunday School Assistant sources and prepares materials for classes, assists in coordinating events, maintains records, models appropriate behavior in worship and in the classroom, engages in age-appropriate activities with the children and youth, and maintains a safe, clean, and organized environment. The successful candidate will have experience teaching or supervising children and/or youth for an extended period of time. Calm and capable in handling the needs of children and youth and willing to engage enthusiastically with them in age-appropriate activities. They will be responsible, trustworthy, and reliable, and able to be friendly, professional, and people-focused. Willingness to support the Beneficent Mission and to abide by the Beneficent Safe Space Policies and Procedures and the Beneficent Relational Covenant. They will be able to pass a background check and will be at least 18 years old. This is a part-time, non-benefited position for 2½ to 3 hours per week on Sunday mornings starting at 10am, with the opportunity to work during additional worship services and events throughout the year. There may be longer or shorter hours to accommodate the ebb and flow of seasonal demands and church programming.
