Job Description:
The graduate student position will learn how to operate and maintain complex scientific instruments, how to communicate with and educate students, how to solve technical and interpersonal problems, and to give feedback to and effectively communicate with students and faculty. This requires strong attention to details skills, strong professional communication skills in various training, teaching, and corrective situations. The position also requires a high research instrument knowledge and some experience in working with them. This is needed to support the daily operations of the CMI with main duties being the training and support of undergraduate and graduate students on select research instruments; overseeing that research instruments are used properly by individual users; assist in the teaching Dr. Zechmann's classes (Transmission Electron Microscopy Bio 5420 and Scanning Electron Microscopy Bio 5421) by training and supporting the students on equipment by preparing laboratory materials, distributing course material, monitoring attendance, and by providing feedback on user performance, assignments, and progress.
