Job Description

Shanghai International Studies University (SISU) Division of Management Teach business in Shanghai and prepare students for global success in a unique University of Waikato partnership. Teach internationally in vibrant Shanghai, China Shape global business graduates 3-year overseas academic opportunity Ngā kōrero mō te tūranga - About the role This is a unique opportunity to take your academic career abroad while making a meaningful impact on students' global education journeys. Based in Shanghai, you will contribute to a joint programme between the University of Waikato and Shanghai International Studies University (SISU), delivering the first year of a Bachelor of Business degree. As a Teaching Fellow, you will play a key role in shaping students' academic foundations before they transition to New Zealand to complete their studies. This position offers the chance to work at the intersection of cultures, supporting students as they develop the knowledge, confidence and international perspective needed for future success. You will deliver high-quality teaching across a range of introductory business subjects, support student learning and wellbeing, and contribute to programme coordination and administration. Beyond the classroom, you will engage closely with students, parents and partner staff, helping to foster a supportive and globally connected learning environment. This is a full-time, three-year position (which may be extended), based in Shanghai, commencing in August 2026. Salary will be in the range
NZD81,000-97,000
per year, pro-rata based on skills, knowledge and experience brought to the position. An attractive benefits package is included. All applications must be submitted through the online portal. You bring a strong foundation in business management and economics, along with the ability to connect with diverse student cohorts and deliver high-quality learning experiences.
You will also have:
A master's degree in business, with a specialisation in economics; a PhD would be an advantage Demonstrated success in undergraduate teaching, with at least two years of full-time experience, including lectures and small group delivery Ability to teach a range of introductory business subjects Strong understanding of cross-cultural teaching, preferably with experience in China Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with students, staff and external partners A proactive, adaptable approach and a willingness to contribute to programme development and administration Experience working with international students and an interest in innovative teaching methods will be advantageous.
