Job Description

Macomb Community College Adjunct Faculty demonstrate deep subject matter knowledge and provide effective instruction to students using various modalities including, but not limited to, on campus, online, remote, hybrid, and flexible learning. Adjunct Faculty are responsive to their students and support their success through timely communication, feedback, and assessment of student learning. An opportunity to join a premier community college as an Adjunct Faculty member in the Health and Human Services - Dental Hygiene Program. Adjunct faculty create industry relevant curriculum and assessments in order for students to be ready for entry level dental hygiene employment, provides classroom, clinical, and/or lab instruction in accordance with the Commission on Dental Accreditation, and collaborates with other faculty, Administration, Operations & Staff Coordinator, and Internship Coordinator to support student success. Primary responsibility will be to teach in the clinic and the lab while aligning with objectives and outcomes for the department. Teach predefined subject matter as assigned by the department. Maintain course materials in the College's Learning Management System (LMS), including, but not limited to, announcement, syllabus, and gradebook. Keep gradebook up to date and submit final grades by published deadlines. Participate and actively cooperate with the department and Learning Unit to meet accreditation standards. Assist in facilitating student clinical and or lab experiences as assigned and applicable. Participate in course assessments that will accurately measure achievement of student learning outcomes as assigned. Complete training for various instructional delivery modalities as required. Maintain faculty credentials as required by the College's accrediting agencies. Attend Faculty Development Days and/or Institutional Development Days as schedule permits and applicable. Participate in Learning Unit committees as schedule permits. Creates course curriculum and assessments, refines, and modifies as industry dictates. Teaches Dental Hygiene courses as assigned. Prompt completion of student grades and classroom paperwork as requested. Expected to be reliable, responsible, professional, and efficient with schedule and teaching assignment. Promotes and supports student success. Other duties as assigned in compliance with the AAFMCC collective bargaining agreement. Bachelor's degree or higher in dental hygiene, allied health, healthcare education, or a related area Current Michigan license as a Registered Dental Hygienist Current Local Anesthesia and Nitrous Oxide certification Or one of the following
Doctorate Degrees:
Doctorate in Dental Surgery (DDS) Doctorate in Medicine in Dentistry (DMD)
