Description Join Mohave College's Adjunct Faculty Pool for the Medical Assisting Program and become part of a collaborative instructional team dedicated to empowering students and supporting the College's Students First mission. Adjunct faculty in Medical Assisting play a critical role in program quality and student success by providing hands-on instruction, modeling professionalism, and supporting accreditation requirements aligned with MAERB standards. Adjunct faculty in this program do far more than facilitate pre-developed content-they actively teach, mentor, engage, and communicate. They contribute to program operations, academic excellence, and the development of the next generation of medical assistants. Mohave College offers on-ground, hybrid, evening, and online courses. Adjunct faculty are expected to participate in innovative instructional practices and flexible scheduling that support diverse student needs and high standards of professional preparation. Typical Duties Prepare and deliver classroom presentations, demonstrations, laboratory skills, and student learning activities that support MAERB-required competencies. Develop and distribute course syllabi that clearly outline course requirements, attendance expectations, grading criteria, and instructor office hours. Maintain accurate and complete grade and attendance records and submit required reports in accordance with Mohave College policies and deadlines. Utilize the Canvas Learning Management System (LMS) to deliver instructional materials, record grades, provide feedback, communicate with students, and ensure compliance with program requirements. Canvas experience preferred. Respond promptly and professionally to communications from students, colleagues, and Mohave College staff (generally within 48 hours, excluding weekends/holidays). Attend required adjunct faculty meetings, Medical Assisting program meetings, division meetings, and CTL (Center for Teaching & Learning) training sessions. Complete all mandatory annual training modules (as FERPA, Title IX, cybersecurity, safety training, MAERB-required updates, and other institutional training). Participate in program assessment, curriculum review, competency evaluation, and accreditation-related tasks as directed. Remain knowledgeable and current with Medical Assisting practices, trends, industry standards, clinical procedures, and healthcare regulations. Provide timely, meaningful, and constructive feedback to support the development of student clinical and administrative competencies. Maintain student confidentiality in accordance with FERPA, program policy, and professional ethics. Adhere to class schedules, meet attendance standards, and maintain reliable instructional commitments. Engage collaboratively with full-time faculty and actively contribute to the instructional team, program operations, and continuous improvement efforts. Understand that Medical Assisting instruction at Mohave College is not simply "teaching a canned class"; it requires active participation, mentorship, communication, and a strong commitment to student learning. Provide availability for student support through posted office hours or virtual meetings. Model professionalism, ethical conduct, and appropriate workplace behaviors expected in healthcare environments. Qualifications Applicants must meet the minimum education and experience requirements below in addition to Mohave College Faculty Qualification standards. Applicants are responsible for submitting complete documentation verifying eligibility. Minimum Associate Degree in Medical Assisting, Allied Health, Healthcare, or a closely related discipline from a regionally accredited institution. Minimum two (2) years of recent, relevant work experience in the Medical Assisting or ambulatory healthcare field. Current certification in Medical Assisting required (RMA, CMA, LPN, RN or equivalent). Teaching experience preferred but not required. Canvas (LMS) experience preferred. Professional Expectations To support Mohave College's mission, accreditation requirements, and instructional standards, Medical Assisting adjunct faculty are required to: Check Mohave College email regularly and respond within expected timeframes. Attend all required faculty meetings and regular CTL trainings. Complete all annual College-required and program-specific training modules. Collaborate with full-time faculty to maintain curriculum consistency and support accreditation compliance. Maintain accurate instructional documentation, including competencies and assessments. Uphold confidentiality, professionalism, and ethical conduct in all interactions.
