Job Description

Job Summary:
The Family Medicine Junior Faculty position is part of a 13-month fellowship program that prepares primary care physicians for leadership roles in the community and in academic medicine. The fellowship is comprised of a combination of direct patient care, teaching, supervision, community-based research, and learning activities. To improve the health of the communities KP serves, Junior Faculty collaborate with community partners and safety net providers across Southern California to assess needs, allocate resources, and evaluate outcomes. They help educate other physicians, residents, and students to be qualified leaders using team-based approaches to address the unique needs of their communities. Fellows serve as attending physician of record in KP ambulatory clinics, affiliated community clinics, and on the inpatient services of their respective hospitals.
Essential Responsibilities:
Direct Patient Care Activities (two (2) half days per week). One (1) KP clinic per week (half day). Four (4) community clinics/sites per week (two (2) days). Mentorship, Supervision & Teaching Activities (one (1) - two (2) days per week). Independently mentor residents and medical students in weekly KP continuity clinic; Review and co-sign all notes/orders placed in HealthConnect by unlicensed residents and medical students. Independently supervise residents and medical students at community sites. Evaluate resident performance on community medicine rotation and provide feedback. Deliver didactic and case-based content to students and peers. Research & Learning Activities (one (1) - two (2) days per week). Design and execute a community-based research project incorporating learned evaluation components. Attend regional fellowship seminars/webinars and required conferences. Participate in recruitment of and transition to successor.
Qualifications:
Basic Qualifications:
Experience N/A Education Medical degree (MD or DO). License, Certification, Registration Doctor of Medicine License (California)
Basic Life Support National Provider Identifier Drug Enforcement Administration Registration Additional Requirements:
Completion of an ACGME-accredited residency program in Internal Medicine, Family Medicine, or Pediatrics. Must be able to work in a Labor/Management Partnership environment. Advanced Life Support (ACLS) - Family Medicine/Internal Medicine graduates only. Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) - Pediatrics graduates only.
