Opening Date 05/20/2026 DESCRIPTION BENEFITS General Description of the Position This is a 100% Grant Funded Position Reporting to the Department Chair, the Visiting Lecturer II will be responsible for the primary task of teaching undergraduate courses offered as part of the Public Health major curriculum. In addition, this faculty member will conduct Public Health research involving undergraduate students. The qualified candidate will be adaptable and capable of teaching a variety of courses, both online and in-person, within the Public Health major program of study. Additionally, it is preferred that the candidate demonstrate expertise in research topics related to health disparities and be willing to contribute to the advancement of related lines of research within the Department. It will also be expected for the candidate to manage student research assistants, apply for grant funding, serve on committees, and participate in official activities on the Department, College, and University levels. Essential Functions & Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities The following are the functions essential to performing this job. Teach courses within the Public Health curriculum. Possible courses may include, but are not limited to: Health Disparities, Infectious Diseases, Global Health, and Chronic Diseases. Advise and mentor Public Health majors. Supervise and influence student research projects. Participate in University/College/Department/Professional committees Engage in community service Demonstrate, maintain, and continue professional competence and knowledge of Public Health Productive scholarship within a defined research agenda related to the field of Public Health that provides the opportunity for interdisciplinary learning and research collaboration Ability to contribute to a positive work environment within the department Technological literacy and the willingness to implement technology-based strategies into the teaching and learning processes. Commitment to professional and community service within Delaware State University and surrounding communities. Must be authorized to work in the United States for the duration of this employment appointment Commitment to excellence in teaching as evidenced by a presentation during a campus visit or virtual interview. Interest in working with a diverse population of undergraduate students. Qualification Standards Doctorate in Public Health is preferred; Master's degree in Public Health or some other closely related field is required. Minimum of 2-3 years full-time experience teaching Public Health at the college/university level. A record of publications, presentations, and attainment of external funding.
