Primary Purpose:

As a Program Director, directs the didactic and clinical care initiatives of the Advanced Education Program in Prosthodontics to ensure residents meet course outcomes. Provides direct resident supervision in the clinics. May be given additional administrative duties. (Clinical Track)

Provides high quality instruction in field of expertise, ensuring students meet course outcomes. 2. Plans, evaluates, and revises curricula, course content, course materials, and methods of instruction. 3. Selects and obtains materials and supplies, such as textbooks and laboratory equipment. 4. Prepares course materials, such as syllabi, homework assignments, and handouts. 5. Prepares materials for laboratory activities and course materials, such as syllabi, homework assignments, and handouts. 6. Identifies specialized materials for outside reading assignments. 7. Initiates, facilitates, and moderates classroom discussions. 8. Supervises laboratory sessions. 9. Assists students who need extra help with their coursework outside of class. 10. Maintains student attendance records, grades, and other required records. 11. Evaluates and grades students' class work, laboratory and clinic work, assignments, and/or papers. 12. Compiles, administers, and grades examinations, or assigns this work to others. 13. Maintains regularly scheduled office hours to advise and assist students. 14. Advises students on academic and vocational curricula and on career issues. 15. Acts as advisor to student organizations, ensuring adherence to college and university policies and procedures. Clinical Instruction 1. Assesses clinical education needs and patient and client teaching needs using a variety of methods. 2. Demonstrates patient care in clinical units. Research & Scholarship 1. Conducts research in a particular field of knowledge and publishes findings in professional journals, books, or electronic media. 2. Writes grant proposals to procure external research funding. 3. Reviews papers for publication in journals. 4. Supervises undergraduate or graduate teaching, internship, and research work. Service & Professional Development 1. Participates in campus and community events, such as giving presentations to the public. 2. Actively identifies opportunities and provides services relating to fields of expertise for the benefit of internal and external communities.

Director Responsibilities:

1. Oversees the didactic and clinical care initiatives of the Advanced Education Program in Prosthodontics 2. Provides direct resident supervision in the clinic. 3. Facilitates the clinical experience for residents. 4. Monitors the emergency schedule and coverage during work hours and after work hours. 5. Serves as liaison between faculty, college administration, and residents. 6. Identifies process improvement opportunities and implements changes to improve efficiency. 7. Develops and reviews clinic policies and procedures. 8. Plans and conducts meetings with faculty, staff, and residents regarding clinic activities. 9. Designs and coordinates quality and outcomes measures for clinical, operational and research purposes. 10. Organizes necessary training/seminars for faculty and residents in the areas relevant to clinical dentistry as it relates to the necessary skills required by residents. 11. Monitors compliance with requirements set by NSU College of Dental Medicine. Other Assigned Duties 1. Collaborates with staff and colleagues to address teaching and research issues, and to improve students' learning experiences. 2. Serves on academic or administrative committees that deal with institutional policies, departmental matters, and academic issues. 3. Participates in student recruitment, registration, and placement activities. 4. Mentors junior and adjunct faculty members. 5. Keeps abreast of developments in the field by reading current literature, talking with colleagues, and participating in professional conferences. 6. Completes projects as required. 7. Performs other duties as assigned or required.

Required Certifications/Licensures:

1. Certificate from an accredited U.S. advanced specialty program in Prosthodontics. 2. Board certified in the American Board of Prosthodontics and a Diplomat of the American Board of Prosthodontics.

Required Education:

DDS or DMD or equivalent foreign dental degree Major (if required:

Required Experience:

Professional doctoral-level teaching experience or minimum of three (3) years of experience working in private practice, as an Prosthodontist.
