Position # 40056821 The Medical College of Georgia, Department of Surgery, at Augusta University is seeking a full-time faculty member at the rank of Assistant Professor, Associate Professor or Professor, in the division of Transplant Surgery. The division is part of an academic general surgery program which includes a general surgery residency, clinical research program and a busy clinical practice. The program has a growing Kidney/Pancreas transplant program and is in the process of starting a Liver transplant program as well. This position does not meet the requirements to be on a tenure track. Responsibilities Clinical Work in a clinical practice Research Participate in a clinical research program Teaching Work with general surgery residents Responsibilities will include patient care, education and research in the field of Transplant Surgery. Provide clinical and call coverage as outlined by the Section Chief. As a Clinician-Educator, train students and residents. Maintain appropriate clinical records relating to patients treated by you to the extent required by applicable state and federal laws. Produce the appropriate number of RVU's for your specialty and work effort. As a member of the Department of Surgery, the incumbent will be expected to participate in the educational programs of the Department, which includes teaching, service, training, preceptorship, mentoring, etc. The kidney and pancreas transplant programs were established in 1968 and 1992 respectively and serve adult and pediatric patients from throughout Georgia and South Carolina. The division is part of an academic surgery department which includes a general surgery residency, clinical research program and a busy clinical practice at AU Health. Required Qualifications MD, DO or equivalent from an accredited institution. Board-certified in general surgery, must have completed an ASTS-accredited transplant surgery fellowship, and should have up to five years of clinical experience. Applicants must meet UNOS primary kidney and pancreas transplant surgeon requirements for adult and pediatric programs.
