Job Description:
Description The University of Chicago's Department of Medicine, Section of Hospital Medicine, seeks faculty members at the rank of Associate Professor or Professor on the School of Medicine track. Appointees will conduct research in one or more areas of human health, including population and public health, social science, clinical and outcomes research, quantitative methodology, clinical informatics and related areas. Other duties will include teaching and supervision of trainees, medical students and scholarly activity. Compensation (including a generous package of fringe benefits) is dependent on qualifications.

This position is benefits-eligible. The University of Chicago offers a wide range of benefits programs and resources for eligible employees, including health, retirement, and paid time off. Information about the benefit offerings can be found in the Benefits Guidebook. Primary appointments will be in the Department of Medicine, although we anticipate that appointees will develop close interactions with other departments, divisions, institutes and centers at the University of Chicago, Argonne National Laboratory and the National Opinion Research Center as part of an effort to strengthen and diversify a collegial group that is interested in major questions relevant to the advancement of human health. The University of Chicago has a tradition of innovative interdisciplinary scholarship in the social sciences applied to health and health care. Discoveries at the interface of health and the social sciences address some of health care's most critical problems. These include the relationship of individual and population health to social capital and human capital and neighborhood contexts, to the economics, organization and management of social institutions and policies. The Biological Sciences Division, other academic units of the University, and the University of Chicago Medical Center, are all contained within one compact campus in Chicago's Hyde Park. Appointees will have access to state-of-the-art facilities and to outstanding colleagues and graduate students affiliated with numerous degree-granting programs across the university. Prior to the start of employment, qualified applicants must have a doctoral degree or equivalent. To be considered, those interested must apply through The University of Chicago's Academic Recruitment job board, which uses Interfolio to accept applications: http://apply.interfolio.com/165001. Applicants must upload a CV including bibliography, a cover letter, and a research statement. Review of complete applications will continue until the positions are filled.
