Faculty Position for Clinical Sciences, OMM Hattiesburg - Hattiesburg, MS 39401 Apply Apply Description Job Summary Under the Course Director(s), Department Chair and the Associate Dean, Clinical Sciences, the successful candidate will provide instruction specifically in Osteopathic Principles and Practices (OP&P). The ability to teach in one or more of the biomedical/preclinical courses or clinical disciplines would be beneficial. The candidate will have administrative responsibilities commensurate with rank. Duties and Responsibilities This job description does not state or imply that these are the only duties to be performed by the employee occupying this position. Duties and responsibilities listed are essential job functions and exclude functions, which are incidental to the performance of fundamental job duties. Assist WCUCOM and WCU in the implementation of their respective Mission Statements, Statement(s) of Purpose, Institutional Plan(s), and Financial Plan(s) Complete assigned tasks and participate in assigned work groups for preparing accreditation documents for all accrediting bodies Works with Course Directors, Department Chair and Associate Deans to integrate and implement WCUCOM courses into a four-year, seamless curriculum using on­ site, distance-learning, and other standard and emerging technologies Review relevant WCUCOM curriculum in its entirety and recommend pertinent suggestions to the Course Director(s), Department Chair and Associate Dean, Clinical Sciences Provide oversight for OMM curriculum Assists in monitoring the progress of all students to ensure successful progress toward graduation and recommends disciplinary action when necessary Teach in assigned courses Serves on WCUCOM committees, as assigned Assists in the selection process of students to attend WCUCOM Assist in student remediation as necessary, and as recommended by the Promotion and Matriculation Committee Assist in the interview process for prospective incoming faculty Make contributions to the advancement of knowledge and the development of osteopathic medicine through scientific research and community service To participate in community relations efforts to extend and enhance the visibility and reputation of the Department, the College of Osteopathic Medicine, and William Carey University To serve on state and regional societies, and agencies, bureaus, and committees of the profession and specialty or discipline To comply with WCU and professional standards and regulations including but not limited to ADA, HIPPAA, OSHA, and safety training Other duties as assigned by the Course Director(s), Department Chair, Associate Dean, Clinical Sciences, and WCUCOM Dean Qualifications Required Qualifications Board Eligible/Certified DO or MD with appropriate training and skills Specialty Residency Trained to Practice (Primary care or NMM preferred) Clinical experience practicing OMT within their specialty Maintains an active license or be eligible for a license to practice in the state of Mississippi Graduate of an accredited College of Osteopathic Medicine or LCME with appropriate training and experience Curricular and teaching experience, in formal and informal teaching, and learner supervision and evaluation Have leadership, teaching, and clinical skills Have excellent verbal and written communication skills Be detailed oriented and have excellent interpersonal skills Have expertise with Microsoft Office Suite products and the desire and ability to learn course management software/distance learning technologies Be able to complete multiple assignments, meet deadlines, and exercise good judgment Please provide examples of accomplishments, skills, and publications Preferred Qualifications Board Certified NMM-OMM or C-SPOM Experience as an instructor or course director of an OP&P department or course Experience in teaching and/or research in a COCA-accredited osteopathic medical school or college Experience in more than one clinical and/or preclinical discipline Experience in course development and curriculum integration Physical Demands Possess the mobility to work in a standard office setting Have the vision to read printed materials and a computer screen; hearing and speech to communicate in person and over the telephone The ability to sit for extended periods of time The ability to lift and carry 25 pounds The ability to travel throughout Mississippi and the Gulf South region.
