Medical Laboratory Technology Instructor (9mo) Salary Depends on Qualifications Location Graham, NC Job Type Full-Time Non-Exempt Job Number 2026-00035 Division Health & Public Service Department Medical Laboratory Technology Opening Date 05/01/2026 Closing Date 5/17/2026 11:59 PM Eastern Description Position Summary As salaried employees, Faculty work a minimum of 40 hours per week, with a required minimum of 20-24 on-campus hours Monday through Friday. In certain program areas and during certain periods, such as advising and registration, Faculty may be required to work more than the minimum on-campus hours. Focused on student success, Faculty support the College's mission by facilitating student learning in and outside of class through high-quality instruction, academic support, and informed advising. Example of Duties Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned. Provide appropriate and effective instruction in Medical Laboratory Technology courses Teach classes per the College's teaching load formula in combinations including day, evening, weekend, off-campus, and online as the College requires Provide relevant learning opportunities that promote student engagement and retention Create meaningful assessments and evaluate student work according to departmental standards Maintain accurate student records, including course attendance Be available to students during office or lab hours for assistance Provide regular grade updates through Moodle gradebook Provide accurate, informed advising Maintain accessible office or lab hours Understanding College policies and procedures, degree requirements, and transfer requirements Provide students with current information regarding career opportunities, as appropriate Be informed about College services and support for students Recruit students, including participation in open houses, College events, and recruitment fairs Engage in continuous improvement efforts Build positive, effective relationships with internal and external partners Participating in student club activities and events Assist with NAACLS accreditation reports Assist with live projects as relevant Serve on College committees and other duties as assigned Stay current with the requirements of the programs including maintaining good standing with NAACLS accreditation Participate in a minimum of 36 hours of documented continuing professional education every three years This position requires strong interpersonal skills in communication with students to include recruiting and advising, as well as participation with colleagues, staff, administrators, and community partners as individuals or as part of a team. Participation in college functions, committee assignments and other tasks as assigned is also required. Work hours may include day, evening, and weekend hours. Experience Minimum Required:
Associate's Degree in Medical Laboratory Technology from a regionally accredited institution Current Nationally recognized generalist certification as a Medical Laboratory Technician Minimum two (2) years experience in a clinical laboratory setting
Preferred:
Teaching experience at a community college level, teaching college level courses, and evaluating student knowledge of current NAACLS accreditation standards and procedures Familiarity with North Carolina Community College curriculum structure and processes Curriculum/program development experience, policy, and procedure formulation; and evaluating program effectiveness Solid understanding of NAACLS accreditation requirements Bachelor's Degree in Medical/Clinical Laboratory Science from a regionally accredited institution Nationally recognized generalist certification as a Medical Laboratory Scientist Certificates, Licenses, Registrations ASCP generalist certification as a Medical Laboratory Technician or Scientist Supplemental Information Supplemental Information An ACC on-line application MUST be fully completed for consideration, which includes a required letter of interest, transcript attachment.
