Job Description

Johns Hopkins, founded in 1876, is America's first research university and home to nine world-class academic divisions working together as one university. We are seeking an experienced and strategic Director of Executive Faculty Recruitment to lead the recruitment of senior academic leaders at the Johns Hopkins School of Medicine, with a specific focus on department chairs ("department directors"), division chairs ("division directors"), and senior executive faculty positions in the School of Medicine. Reporting into the Executive Vice Dean in the Office of the Dean and CEO, and coordinating closely with JHU Talent Acquisition, the Director of Executive Faculty Recruitment will serve as a trusted partner to School leadership, manage complex executive search processes, and cultivate relationships with senior candidates. The role will supervise an Administrative Specialist who supports search logistics. This is a newly established function within the School of Medicine, and the office is expected to grow as institutional needs expand. In partnership with JHU Talent Acquisition, the position will contribute to the development of the school's evolving executive faculty recruitment framework and infrastructure. Specific Duties & Responsibilities Lead all aspects of executive faculty level searches for department directors, division directors, and senior executive faculty positions in the School of Medicine. Serve as primary advisor to the Dean/CEO, Vice Deans, Department Chairs, and search committees. Develop search strategies, recruitment timelines, position profiles, and candidate evaluation frameworks. Build and maintain a robust network of potential candidates for current and future leadership openings. Provide leadership with talent market insights, competitive intelligence, and pipeline data. Guide search committees on process, best practices, candidate evaluation, and confidentiality. Serve as the primary liaison to candidates, fostering a high touch, confidential, and professional experience. Partner with the Office of the Dean and CEO, and School of Medicine department leaders to develop compelling recruitment materials, align search processes, and foster best practices. Supervise an administrative Program Specialist supporting logistical and operational aspects of searches, including candidate touchpoints, interviews, campus visit planning, search committee meetings and other aspects of the recruitment cycle. Contribute to long term planning for additional staff and expanded capabilities as the office evolves. Skills & Competencies Expertise in executive search methodologies and candidate sourcing strategies. Exceptional interpersonal skills, emotional intelligence, and discretion. Strong project management skills with an ability to manage multiple concurrent searches. Outstanding written and verbal communication skills. Ability to work collaboratively with diverse stakeholders, including academic departments, administrative units, and external partners. Minimum Qualifications Bachelor's degree. Seven years of experience in executive searches, senior faculty recruitment, physician leadership recruitment, or comparable fields. Experience recruiting academic leadership within or for a medical school or academic medical center. Familiarity with the structure, culture, and career pathways of academic medicine. Additional education may substitute for required experience, and additional related experience may substitute for required education beyond a high school diploma/graduation equivalent, to the extent permitted by the JHU equivalency formula.

During the Influenza ("the flu") season, as a condition of employment, The Johns Hopkins Institutions require all employees who provide ongoing services to patients or work in patient care or clinical care areas to have an annual influenza vaccination or possess an approved medical or religious exception. Failure to meet this requirement may result in termination of employment. The pre-employment physical for positions in clinical areas, laboratories, working with research subjects, or involving community contact requires documentation of immune status against Rubella (German measles), Rubeola (Measles), Mumps, Varicella (chickenpox), Hepatitis B and documentation of having received the Tdap (Tetanus, diphtheria, pertussis) vaccination. This may include documentation of having two (2) MMR vaccines; two (2) Varicella vaccines; or antibody status to these diseases from laboratory testing. Blood tests for immunities to these diseases are ordinarily included in the pre-employment physical exam except for those employees who provide results of blood tests or immunization documentation from their own health care providers. Any vaccinations required for these diseases will be given at no cost in our Occupational Health office.
