Job Description

McGovern Medical School at UTHealth Houston , a leading academic health center, invites applications for a full-time 1.0 FTE, non-tenure clinical (NTC) track Associate Professor NTC position in the Department of Cardiothoracic and Vascular Surgery. The selected candidate will contribute to the department's mission to educate health science professionals, discover and translate advances in the biomedical and social sciences, and model the best practices in clinical care and public health through Texas's high-level responsibilities: research, teaching, clinical service, administrative activities, and other services.
Position Key Accountabilities:
The rank of Associate Professor NTC in cardiothoracic and Vascular Surgery will teach, participate in clinical service, perform administrative duties, provide direct patient care, and supervise medical students and residents in clinic and hospital settings. Participating in the Cardiothoracic and Vascular Surgery practice in the Greater Houston area Memorial Hermann locations, including participation in a UT general Cardiothoracic and Vascular Surgery physician group call team for coverage. Collaborating with other Cardiothoracic and Vascular Surgery physicians who will join the practice. Being involved in the recruitment, selection, and hiring of new or additional physicians to the group. Providing feedback regarding office operations, including hiring staff, office logistics, and physician recruitment. Participating in the education and training of medical students and residents. Supporting the research mission of the department and university through: a) Facilitating reasonable and appropriate access to patients by research staff. b) Assisting when requested with collecting research data, including biological specimens, and c) Providing information and education on ongoing research studies to potentially eligible research subjects
Qualifications:
The selected candidate must have a Texas Medical License or be eligible for a Texas Faculty Temporary License. Required or preferred board certification/eligibility statement. Required or preferred minimum 20 years of clinical experience or a post-residency statement. Qualified applicants must demonstrate a commitment to excellence, discovery, and service, have the potential to be outstanding in their field of expertise, and share an interest in fulfilling the common goals of McGovern Medical School at UTHealth Houston.
