Posting Details Position Information Job Category Faculty Position Title Assistant Professor of Physician Assistant Studies Working Title Assistant Professor PA Scheduled Hours Per Week 37.5 FLSA Status Exempt Job Summary Job Summary The Assistant Professor of Physician Assistant Studies position is a full-time, twelve-month university faculty position with academic rank based upon the appointee's academic and experiential qualifications. The Assistant Professor of Physician Assistant Studies will collaborate with other program faculty to assist in providing an education in accordance with the program's mission, goals, competencies, and with accreditation standards. Faculty are responsible for generating and delivering classroom lectures and clinical skills instruction within the basic medical and clinical science topics for which he/she is qualified, as well as evaluating student performance, providing remediation when necessary, counseling students, and evaluating the curriculum and program. Duties and Responsibilities Duty/Responsibility Collaborate with other principal program faculty to design, implement, coordinate, and evaluate the program's curriculum, modifying as appropriate, to ensure the curriculum meets program expectations, current practice standards relating to PA practice, and accreditation standards. Provide student instruction within areas of expertise and interest and evaluate student performance.
  • Participate in the mentoring and academic counseling of students.
Participate in the development and periodic review and revision of the mission, vision, goals, and competencies of the PA Program. Participate in admissions processes by scoring qualifying applications, interviewing candidates, and rendering selection decisions. Participate in the development and review of remediation processes and provide student remediation as necessary. Participate in the processes of program evaluation. Participate in activities of state, regional, and national organizations to promote a positive image of the PA concept within academic, lay, and professional communities. Represent the Physician Assistant Program through service on University-level committees.
  • Pursue professional development activities such as clinical practice, scholarly works, or an advanced degree.
Perform other duties as may be assigned from time to time. % of Time 100 Education/Knowledge Minimum Education Master's Required Licenses/Certification Minimum Education Graduate level degree, Master's acceptable but doctorate preferred. Required Licenses/Certification Physician assistant with current NCCPA certification. Required Skills Strong interpersonal abilities with excellent verbal and written communication skills to effectively communicate with students, staff, faculty, and administrators.
