Athletics Director Job Summary:

The Assistant Director of Youth Athletics and Aquatics is responsible for the day-to-day execution and operations of all athletics and aquatics programming. This role ensures programs run smoothly by managing schedules, staffing, logistics, and communication. The Assistant Director is responsible for carrying out the Director's vision through effective daily program operations and ensuring a positive, high-quality experience for all participants. Key Responsibilities Daily Operations & Program Execution Oversee daily implementation of youth athletics and aquatics programs Ensure all programs are fully staffed, organized, and running effectively Step in to support programs directly (coaching, instructing, troubleshooting) as needed Staff Scheduling & Payroll Create and manage all staff and instructor schedules Ensure coverage across programs, including swim lessons and camps Serve as substitute swim instructor when needed Process and manage payroll for athletics and aquatics staff Program Logistics & Coordination Manage facility and space scheduling (gyms, fields, pool) Coordinate swim meet logistics and event execution Oversee equipment, setup, and day-to-day program readiness Coordinate end-of-season events (awards, parties, recognition) Swim School Operations (Execution) Schedule Swim School sessions and instructors Track participant progress and evaluations Ensure timely completion and distribution of evaluations Support day-to-day operations of outreach programming Family Communication and Experience Serve as primary point of contact for families regarding schedules, updates, and logistics Communicate program details clearly and consistently Support participant satisfaction and address issues as they arise Administration & Marketing Manage registration processes and participant tracking Maintain accurate rosters and program records Support marketing and communication efforts to promote programs Education, Training, and Experience High school diploma or equivalent; college coursework in Recreation or Sports Management preferred. Minimum of 2 years of experience in athletics programming or coaching. Strong organizational and interpersonal skills. Knowledge of field and court maintenance procedures. Current certifications in CPR and First Aid (or ability to obtain upon hire). Physical Demands Ability to communicate clearly and effectively with children in an age-appropriate manner Ability to stand and remain active for extended periods of time Ability to lift and move up to 50 pounds Ability to work in a variety of environments, including outdoor conditions such as heat, humidity, cold, and rain

Pay:

$40,000.00 - $45,000.00 per year
