SCOPE OF RESPONSIBILITY
The Coordinator of Campus Services provides operational leadership and day-to-day management for assigned J.F. Ingram State Technical College (ISTC) campus locations, including instructional sites located within correctional facilities. This position supports the College's mission by ensuring effective campus operations, safe and functional learning environments, coordination of instructional support services, and oversight of campus personnel and student support activities. The Coordinator works collaboratively with instructional leadership, administrative departments, the Alabama Department of Corrections, and the Alabama Bureau of Pardons and Paroles personnel to support student success, institutional effectiveness, and compliance with College and correctional facility procedures. This position requires a proactive leader with strong organizational, communication, and relationship-management skills who can effectively operate in both educational and correctional environments. Listed below are the primary duties of this position; however, the Dean of Instruction and/or President may assign other professional responsibilities to meet the College's needs. Essential Duties and Responsibilities
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS, DUTIES, & RESPONSIBILITIES
Campus Operations & Facilities Coordination Coordinate day-to-day campus operations to ensure safe, efficient, and effective learning environments. Oversee facility maintenance needs, custodial services, grounds upkeep, and operational logistics. Monitor the condition and functionality of campus facilities and installed equipment. Coordinate responses to facility issues, utility disruptions, and operational emergencies. Assist with planning and budget recommendations related to facility repairs, maintenance, and operational needs. Support campus safety, security, and emergency preparedness procedures. Conduct campus and facility tours for visitors, partners, and stakeholders as appropriate. Instructional & Student Support Coordination Provide operational support for instructional programs and student services at assigned campus locations. Coordinate faculty and staff scheduling needs in collaboration with instructional leadership. Assist with oversight of daily campus activities to support student engagement, retention, and success. Facilitate communication between campus personnel, instructional leadership, and administrative departments. Coordinate technology and administrative support services with appropriate College departments. Leadership & Personnel Supervision Provide day-to-day supervision and operational guidance for assigned campus faculty, staff, and student workers. Support employee development through mentoring, communication, and performance feedback. Assist with staffing coordination, scheduling, and leave management for campus personnel. Foster a professional, collaborative, and student-centered campus culture. Correctional Facility Coordination Collaborate with the Alabama Department of Corrections/Alabama Bureau of Pardons and Paroles personnel regarding campus access, security procedures, student scheduling, and transportation logistics. Maintain eligibility to enter and work within all assigned Alabama Department of Corrections/Alabama Bureau of Pardons and Paroles facilities as required for continued employment. Demonstrate professionalism, sound judgment, and effective communication while working within correctional education environments. Institutional Support Serve on College committees and participate in institutional initiatives and special projects as assigned. Support the mission, values, and strategic goals of J.F. Ingram State Technical College. Comply with all applicable policies, procedures, and guidelines established by the Alabama Community College System (ACCS), the ACCS Board of Trustees, and J.F. Ingram State Technical College. Perform other duties as assigned by the Dean of Instruction or College administration.
REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, & ABILITIES
Demonstrated leadership experience with strong organizational and operational management skills. Excellent interpersonal, communication, problem-solving, and decision-making abilities. Ability to build collaborative working relationships across instructional, administrative, and correctional environments. Experience supervising, mentoring, and supporting employees in a professional setting. Ability to manage multiple priorities and maintain professionalism in a fast-paced environment. Strong commitment to student success, customer service, and institutional effectiveness. Demonstrated commitment to serving diverse student populations with professionalism, equity, and respect. Ability to effectively communicate and work with incarcerated student populations within a correctional education setting.
WORK ENVIRONMENT & ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS
Work is performed in educational, administrative, and correctional facility settings. Position may require travel between campus locations and correctional facilities. Must be cleared through the Alabama Community College System background check to be eligible to enter and work in the Alabama Department of Corrections/Alabama Bureau of Pardons and Paroles facilities and to maintain that eligibility throughout employment. Evening or occasional extended hours may be required to support campus operations or special events. Qualifications EDUCATION and/or
WORK EXPERIENCE REQUIRED
Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university. Three (3) years of successful full-time supervisory experience.
PREFERRED
A Master's degree from an accredited college or university. Experience in a postsecondary or correctional education environment. Experience with campus operations, facilities coordination, student services, or instructional support functions.
