Job Description
The University of Alabama in Huntsville is accepting applications for the regular full-time position of Residence Director. The Residence Director (RD) is responsible for the programming and administrative management of a co-educational residential community ranging in size from 229 to 416 residents. This position has on-call responsibilities and answers to emergency situations. Some of the duties and responsibilities include: Supervising Resident Assistant team to include the communication of expectations, administer accountability measures, and provide on-going professional development Assisting the Assistant Director of residence Life in the recruitment, selection, and training of student staff Conducting meetings on an as needed basis with community student leaders to guide necessary professional, social, and personal development Advising a community council Reviewing cases of student misconduct and determine fair consequences at the discretion of the Dean of Students office. Attending meetings as assigned to include weekly staff meetings and bi-weekly departmental meetings. Participating (as directed) in occupancy management for area of responsibility to include room assignment changes. Managing an area programming budget. execute the procurement of necessary materials Attending meetings as assigned to include weekly staff meetings and bi-weekly departmental meetings. Planning, supporting, implementing and evaluating initiatives that contribute to the overall wellbeing of residents to include educational, social, and developmental growth. Executing move-in procedures at the beginning of each semester and move-out procedures at the end of each semester. Participating in a 24 hour on-call rotation with other Residence Directors Representing Housing & Residence Life by actively participating in appropriate campus wide events and committees Minimum qualifications include a Bachelor's degree or an equivalent combination of education and years of experience. 1 to 3 years of full-time verifiable experience working at an institution of higher education is required. Must have a knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite and Google Suite. Must have excellent communication and interpersonal skills. A valid driver's license is required. Master's degree in Student Affairs Administration or a similar field is preferred. 1 to 3 years' experience in a traditional, on-campus, Housing and Residence Life department is desired. Knowledge of Banner and experience with Maxient is preferred. The approximate starting salary is $35,750- $43,888 with an excellent benefits package.
