Position Title:
Administrative Intern
Job Description:
The administrative intern for a school serves as a vital member of the school's leadership team, responsible for supporting a safe, supportive, and enriching environment conducive to the academic and socio-emotional development of FPS learners. This role involves collaborating with teachers, parents, and administrators to address student needs, promote positive behavior, and foster a culture of inclusivity and respect within the school community. This role is designed to be a one year role. It is open to internal candidates. If selected as an Administrative Intern, you will be guaranteed at least one interview for an administrative job in the future. After your year of internship, you will return to the classroom in a similar position, if you have not obtained a position as an administrator at the end of the internship.
Key Responsibilities:
Student Behavior Management:
Work with the current administrators to implement and enforce disciplinary policies and procedures in alignment with the school's code of conduct. Provide guidance and support to teachers in managing student behavior and implementing proactive intervention strategies.
Student Support Services:
Coordinate and oversee support services for students with behavioral, social, or emotional needs. Collaborate with school counselors, psychologists, and special education staff to develop individualized plans and interventions for students requiring additional support.
Parent and Family Engagement:
Cultivate positive relationships with parents and families to support student success. Communicate regularly with parents regarding student behavior, academic progress, and school initiatives. Organize parent education workshops and events to promote collaboration between home and school.
Student Leadership Development:
Facilitate opportunities for student leadership and character development. Organize leadership workshops, service projects, and extracurricular activities to promote teamwork, responsibility, and citizenship among students.
School Climate and Culture:
Foster a positive school climate characterized by mutual respect, inclusivity, and empathy. Implement initiatives to prevent bullying, promote empathy, and celebrate diversity within the school community.
Crisis Intervention and Support:
Provide support and guidance during crises or emergencies affecting students. Collaborate with school administrators and counselors to implement crisis response protocols and provide emotional support to students and staff as needed.
Professional Development:
Provide training and professional development opportunities for teachers and staff on topics related to student behavior management, positive discipline strategies, and creating a supportive learning environment.
Data Analysis and Reporting:
Collect and analyze data related to student behavior, attendance, and disciplinary incidents. Use data to identify trends, assess the effectiveness of interventions, and make data-informed decisions to improve school climate and student outcomes. Collaboration with
Community Partners:
Collaborate with community organizations, agencies, and partners to access resources and support services for students and families. Establish partnerships to enhance the school's capacity to meet the diverse needs of students.
Qualifications:
Master's degree in educational leadership is preferred, but at minimum candidates should be currently enrolled in an educational leadership graduate program. Strong understanding of child development, behavioral psychology, and positive behavior intervention strategies. Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to build positive relationships with students, parents, and staff. Knowledge of relevant laws, regulations, and best practices related to student discipline, special education, and student support services. Ability to work collaboratively as part of a multidisciplinary team and lead initiatives to promote a positive school culture. The Administrative Intern plays a crucial role in creating a nurturing and supportive environment where all students can thrive academically, socially, and emotionally. This position requires a dedicated and compassionate professional who is committed to promoting positive behavior, fostering a sense of belonging, and ensuring the well-being of every student in the school community.
