ABOUT OUR SCHOOL
Saint Mary's offers its student body of about 500 young men and women a rigorous Catholic liberal arts and sciences curriculum, a developed fine arts program, a variety of extracurricular activities, regular access to the sacraments, and a strong retreat program. PURPOSE AND SCOPE
The Student Life Coordinator at Saint Mary's Catholic High School is responsible for overseeing student activities, clubs, leadership programs, and school spirit initiatives while supporting the school's mission of Catholic education. Working collaboratively with administration, faculty, students, and families, the Coordinator fosters a positive and engaging campus culture centered on faith, academic excellence, character development, and community involvement. This role serves as a mentor and role model for students by promoting leadership opportunities, encouraging student participation, and supporting the spiritual, social, and emotional growth of the school community through effective communication, organization, creativity, and collaboration.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
Student Leadership & Engagement Develops and facilitates student leadership programs that promote servant leadership, faith formation, school spirit, and student engagement. Oversees and supports the House System and Student Senators to strengthen student leadership, community building, mentorship, and school culture. Provides opportunities for students to grow through campus activities, service projects, clubs, and community involvement. Promotes student participation in clubs, leadership programs, activities, and school events. Meets regularly with club moderators, student leaders, and faculty advisors to support student involvement and effective programming. Evaluates student leadership and activity programs to ensure continuous growth and alignment with the mission of Saint Mary's Catholic High School. Clubs, Activities & School Spirit Oversees all student clubs and organizations to ensure they remain active, mission-centered, and compliant with school expectations. Plans, coordinates, and supervises non-athletic co-curricular activities, assemblies, dances, rallies, spirit weeks, pep rallies, and recognition programs that foster school pride and community. Develops and maintains programs that strengthen school spirit and student engagement. Supports student attendance and positive sportsmanship at athletic events and school functions. Supervises and approves student activity publicity, including posters, announcements, bulletin boards, and promotional materials. Maintains records for all clubs and organizations, including memberships, activities, and service-learning projects. Event Operations & Administrative Support Collaborates with administration, faculty, and staff to ensure safe, positive, and well-supervised student experiences at school events and activities. Assists in coordinating the school-wide activities calendar and daily operations of the school. Coordinates transportation and supervision for student trips, spirit activities, and special events as needed. Coordinates and manages student activity budgets and financial processes in collaboration with the school's business office. Performs additional duties as assigned by the Principal or the Principal's designee. Faith Formation & Catholic Mission Collaborates with Campus Ministry and Christian Service programs to support retreats, liturgical celebrations, faith formation opportunities, and service initiatives. Serves as a visible, faith-filled presence on campus who models and promotes Catholic values and contributes positively to the spiritual, academic, and social life of the school community. Supports the mission of Catholic education by fostering a culture rooted in faith, service, leadership, and community. Community Relations & Student Support Assists with admissions and enrollment events, including recruitment activities, open houses, and student ambassador programs. Serves as an accessible resource for students, parents, faculty, and administration. Seeks and coordinates resources that support the academic, spiritual, social, and emotional well-being of students and families. Maintains a visible and active presence throughout campus, classrooms, and school events. Professional Growth & Collaboration Maintains ongoing professional development through conferences, coursework, committee participation, and professional learning opportunities. Attends Diocesan meetings and collaborates with school and diocesan leadership to support Catholic education initiatives. Other Duties Performs other duties as assigned by the Principal or the Principal's designee.
REQUIRED EDUCATION, KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES TO PERFORM ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
Strong understanding of Catholic education, youth ministry, adolescent development, and student leadership. Excellent written, verbal, interpersonal, and active listening communication skills. Ability to build positive relationships with students, parents, faculty, staff, and community members. Strong organizational, time management, problem-solving, and decision-making abilities. Experience in planning, implementing, supervising, and evaluating student programs and activities. Ability to collaborate effectively, delegate responsibilities, and work as part of a team. Demonstrates adaptability, flexibility, professionalism, humility, and composure in both routine and high-pressure situations. Ability to manage multiple priorities, frequent interruptions, and irregular work hours related to school events and activities. Skilled in conflict resolution, understanding diverse perspectives, and fostering a positive school culture. Proficient in preparing reports, presentations, and professional communications. Commitment to ongoing professional growth and continuous improvement. Ability to assist with student support and crisis intervention when necessary. Physical Demands & Work Environment Ability to stand, walk, sit, reach, use hands, speak, and hear regularly throughout the workday. Ability to lift and/or move up to 30 pounds as needed for student activities and events. Requires close vision, distance vision, and the ability to adjust focus. Ability to work indoors and outdoors for extended periods, including in varying weather conditions such as heat and cold. Ability to manage multiple tasks while maintaining energy, professionalism, and composure in active and fast-paced school environments. The position requires flexibility to work frequent evenings and weekends. Minimum Qualifications Practicing Catholic who is willing to support the mission of Catholic education and sign a Profession of Faith (Bona Fide Occupational Qualification - BFOQ). Meets all Diocesan Catechist Certification and Ministry Formation requirements, including ongoing recertification as required. Completion of Safe Environment Training and acknowledgment of the Diocesan Code of Conduct. Valid Arizona Fingerprint Clearance Card required. Commitment to maintaining professionalism, confidentiality, and adherence to school and diocesan policies and expectations.
