Athletics Job Opening:
Varsity Boys Water Polo Head Coach Moreau Catholic High School Hayward, CA Job Details Qualifications First aid Full Job Description Moreau Catholic High School, a coeducational college-preparatory high school in the Holy Cross tradition, seeks a dedicated Varsity Boys' Water Polo Head Coach who is responsible for overseeing all aspects of the high school boys' water polo program, including player development, game strategies, and team leadership. The coach will foster a competitive, positive, and inclusive environment that promotes sportsmanship, teamwork, discipline, and personal growth while ensuring compliance with all school, NCS, and CIF policies.Essential and Required Duties Program Leadership:
Plan, organize, and lead all practices, games, and team activities for the varsity program, while overseeing/collaborating with the junior varsity level in consultation with the athletic director.Scheduling:
Work with the Athletic Department to create a comprehensive schedule for the season in compliance with theNCS & CIF
rules and regulations.Instruction & Development:
Instruct athletes in fundamental skills, advanced strategies, and physical training necessary for individual and team success.Mentorship:
Serve as a positive role model in the Holy Cross way while guiding student-athletes in the formulation of moral values, self-discipline, and confidence on and off the court.Culture:
Create, establish, and maintain a philosophy, style of play, and culture that will elevate the level of the program.Communication:
Establish and maintain open and effective communication with players, parents, assistant coaches, school administration, and athletic department staff. Create a plan for each student-athlete that is communicated during the pre-season, in-season, and post-season.Admissions & Retention:
Identify and assist the Admissions Department with potential incoming 9th-grade students who are interested in Moreau Catholic High School. Manage and build the roster size for the entire program. It is also the Head Coach's responsibility to aid in the collegiate recruitment process.Logistics & Safety:
Manage team logistics, including scheduling practices and games, coordinating travel arrangements, overseeing equipment and facilities, and ensuring the safety and well-being of all athletes at all times. Moreau Catholic High School does not have an on-campus pool. All practices and games are at an off-campus facility.Community Engagement:
Represent the school program at special activities, including parent nights, banquets, and fundraising events, and promote the program within the community. Oversee and run the team's social media account.Budget:
In partnership with the Athletic Director, manage the program's budget.Support of School Mission:
The head coach is responsible for supporting the academic, spiritual, and social mission of the school. It is expected that the head coach keeps abreast of students' academic performances.Qualifications Experience:
Previous coaching experience, preferably at the high school level, Club program, collegiate, or professional level. Knowledge/Skills Thorough knowledge of water polo rules, regulations, strategies, and techniques. Strong leadership, motivational, and organizational skills. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with diverse stakeholders. Ability to demonstrate patience, emotional control, and adaptability under pressure. Certifications & Requirements Ability to pass a criminal background check. Ability to pass a DMV check. Current CPR/First Aid/AED certification (or willingness to obtain prior to the season). Completion of all state and district-mandated coaching courses and certifications (e.g., concussion management, child abuse prevention training). Of Note Moreau Catholic High School does not have an on-campus pool. All practices and games are at an off-campus facility.Compensation Annual Stipend:
