This vacancy is for a GS-1740-11, Education Services Officer located in the Department of Homeland Security, U.S. Coast Guard, TRACEN
PETALUMA CUSTOMER SUPPORT SERVICES DIVISION
in PETALUMA, California.
Qualifications:
Basic Requirements:
This position has a positive Education Requirement in addition to at least one year of Specialized Experience or substitution of education for experience or combination (if applicable) in order to be found minimally qualified. EDUCATION
A Bachelor's or graduate degree that included or was supplemented by at least 24 semester hours of courses appropriate to this position in one or a combination of the following: educational program administration, curriculum development or design, teaching methods, guidance and counseling, career planning, occupational information, tests and measurement, or adult education. At least one course must be in tests and measurement or adult education In addition to meeting the minimum education requirement to qualify at the GS- 11 grade level, your resume must demonstrate at least one (1) full year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the GS-9 grade level in the federal sector. Specialized experience is experience that has equipped you with the ability, skill, and knowledge to successfully perform the duties of this position and is typically in or related to this line of work. Examples of specialized experience include performing the following types of tasks on a regular basis. Providing individual career and academic guidance regarding undergraduate, graduate, and vocational opportunities. Developing and administering a range of educational programs; Managing Voluntary Education, Tuition Assistance, and military testing programs. Ensuring compliance with educational standards, analyzing program effectiveness, and developing curriculum for adult education. Coordinating and interpreting results from specialized tests, such as the ASVAB for military processing or vocational aptitude assessments.

NOTE:
Education can be substituted for experience at this grade level. if you meet one of the following: A. Completed 3 full years of progressively higher level graduate education or possess a Ph.D. or equivalent doctoral degree in a related field of study from an accredited college and/or university. One year of full-time graduate education is considered to be the number of credit hours that the school attended has determined to represent one year of full-time study. If that information cannot be obtained from the school, 18 semester hours will satisfying the one year of full-time study requirement. B. Have a combination of specialized experience and graduate education. National Service Experience (i.e., volunteer experience): Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional, philanthropic, religious, spiritual, community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
