Job Description

Maret School is seeking a reliable, organized, and service-oriented athletics operations lead to support the daily operations of our athletic program with a primary focus on our Barrett Fields facility, which is three miles north of the school's main campus. This is a full-time position in the school's athletic department, providing vital, continuous operational and facility support throughout the entire year, including summer programming and off-season preparation. The athletics operations lead ensures that all field activities at Barrett Fields are well-coordinated, properly set up, and aligned with school expectations. During non-peak times, the role shifts to supporting the Athletic Department on the school's main campus through organization, equipment management, and program coordination, helping to improve efficiency and readiness across all teams. Barrett Fields Operations and Game-Day Support (Primary Focus) Manage game-day and practice operations, including the setup, breakdown, and organization of fields, sidelines, and sports-specific equipment (goals, nets, fences, benches, etc.); Review practice and game schedules to ensure contests start on time and proactively request operational resources (such as traffic control or extra field-setting support); Serve as a visible, professional, and approachable on-site representative of the school; welcome visiting teams, officials, and renters, and maintain positive relationships with neighbors; Monitor field, facility, and equipment conditions to ensure a safe, high-quality playing environment; communicate needs for repairs or replacements as necessary; Ensure the appropriate gate and door schedule is set for the fields; Maintain the cleanliness, safety, and orderliness of all Barrett Fields facilities and outdoor spaces, including routine turf inspection/grooming, debris removal, and litter cleanup; Coordinate with vendors for periodic turf maintenance, sanitation, and repair services; Assist with logistics and site management for school and community events hosted on the field; Assist with field lining, seasonal setup changes, and equipment rotation. Athletic Department Support (Non-Peak and Supplemental Hours) Organize, stock, and maintain athletic storage spaces across both campuses, improving systems for inventory tracking and equipment access; Assist with distribution, collection, and seasonal turnover of athletic equipment; Support field setup needs for off-season training and summer programs; Support practice and event preparation needs across teams as assigned; Provide general organizational support to improve efficiency within the Athletic Department. General Responsibilities Maintain a consistent presence during after-school athletic hours, especially in peak seasons; Adapt to shifting daily priorities in support of the Athletic Department; Collaborate closely with coaches and athletic staff to meet program needs. Safety & Compliance Ensure compliance with environmental and safety standards related to field maintenance and materials; Maintain accurate records of maintenance activities, usage, and any incidents; Respond to occasional after-hours emergencies such as fire, flooding, severe weather (including but not limited to snow and ice removal), power outage, etc. Qualifications 3+ years of experience in athletic operations, event support, or a similar role; Strong organizational skills with the ability to create and maintain systems; Experience in a school or youth athletics environment preferred; Ability to lift, move, and set up athletic equipment and work outdoors in varying conditions; Excellent interpersonal and communication skills; Ability to remain flexible and responsive in a dynamic, event-driven environment; Availability for afternoons, evenings, and occasional weekends during athletic seasons. The school offers a competitive salary and benefits package. The salary range is $30-$36 per hour. The salary offered is determined based on factors including, but not limited to, experience and education of the selected candidate, budget availability, internal salary equity considerations, and available market information.
