Position Summary:
The Dean of Students is a whole-school leader responsible for supporting student life, culture, and well-being across Antilles School. While the role works most closely with Middle and Upper School students, the Dean serves as a visible and engaged presence across all divisions, promoting a positive, inclusive, and developmentally appropriate student experience. As a member of the school's leadership team, the Dean of Students partners with division leaders, counselors, faculty, and families to support student conduct, social-emotional development, and community life. The Dean may also teach 1-2 classes annually, maintaining a direct connection to students and the academic life of the School.
Core Responsibilities:
Student Life, Culture & Belonging Provide leadership for student life initiatives that promote inclusion, belonging, character development, and positive school culture Serve as a visible, accessible presence for students across divisions Partner with division leaders to ensure consistent expectations for student behavior Support student leadership opportunities, assemblies, traditions, and community programs Student Support, Conduct & Wellness Develop and oversee student conduct processes using restorative practices Collaborate with counselors and the Student Support Team Serve as a family point of contact for student life matters Support crisis response and student safety initiatives Support student policy development and review Teaching & Faculty Collaboration Teach 1-2 classes upon request Model effective classroom practice Collaborate with faculty to support advisory programs Collaborate with faculty to support student conduct and behavior interventions
Qualifications & Skills:
Bachelor's degree required; advanced degree preferred Demonstrated experience in education or student life leadership Strong understanding of child and adolescent development Excellent communication and conflict-resolution skills, with the ability to convey information to parents, students, staff, and external partners in a friendly, consistent, and clear manner Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a collaborative leadership team High level of professionalism, discretion, and customer service orientation Multicultural competence and ability to work effectively in a diverse school community Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage schedules, priorities, and timelines in a fast-paced environment with frequent interruptions Comfortable using Google Suite and school-based technology systems and able to learn new tools and platforms as needed Antilles School is an Equal Opportunity Employer.
