Job Description

Job Description:
The Tournament Director is responsible for the overall planning, organization, and execution of a competitive tournament or sporting event. They serve as the chief authority on-site, ensuring the event runs smoothly, fairly, and safely from start to finish. Job Location /
Hours:
The candidate will perform most job duties on either the Buffalo Ridge Campus or Middleton Campus of The Villages Charter School. Some special events may occur off campus. Hours will vary, but almost all events will take place Friday through Sunday, from 8:00am to 10:00pm. Expectation is a 40-hour work week.
Responsibilities:
Planning & Organization Develop the tournament format, bracket structure, and scheduling Establish rules, regulations, and eligibility requirements Set and manage the event budget Registration & Participant Management Oversee player/team registration and entry processing Verify eligibility and handle waivers or entry fees Communicate event details to participants, coaches, and spectators Manage seedings, draws, and bracket assignments Staff & Volunteer Coordination Serve as the primary point of escalation for staff issues Assign roles and responsibilities to event staff On-Site Operations Coordinate day-of logistics with Facility Managers Serve as the primary point of escalation for staff issues Enforce rules and resolve disputes or protests Make final rulings on disqualifications, forfeits, or rule interpretations Manage the event schedule and handle delays or weather issues Ensure compliance with safety protocols Communication & Administration Serve as the main point of contact for participants, media, and officials Publish results, standings, and announcements in a timely manner Prepare post-event reports and financial summaries Collect feedback for future event improvement Strong leadership and decision-making under pressure Excellent organizational and multitasking abilities Deep knowledge of the sport's rules and regulations Effective communication and conflict resolution skills Experience with Exposure Events and other scheduling tools Ability to manage budgets and resources First aid/CPR certification
