POSITION OVERVIEW JOB SUMMARY
The Health Promotion Coordinator has direct supervision of the student peer educator staff and is responsible for daily operations of the Peer Health Education program; organizes, facilitates, and evaluates a variety of health promotion activities for a wide range of campus audiences to improve the overall health and well-being, academic performance, and retention of college students; assists in hiring, training, managing, and evaluating student staff; assists in researching, planning, and developing programs to support campus and community health initiatives; shares responsibility for strategic planning, quality control, achieving learning outcomes, and meeting the goals and objectives of the department, university, and state.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Bachelor's degree in an appropriate area of specialization. Four years of direct experience may be substituted for a bachelor's degree.
POSITION QUALIFICATIONS
Understanding of health promotion related topics and holistic approaches to promoting wellbeing in a university setting; strong organizational and time management skills with the ability to handle multiple tasks; excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage and support a wide variety of student populations; ability to work collaboratively with students, faculty, staff, and campus partners; experience with marketing and outreach, including social media, website updates, and creating promotional materials; proficiency in data entry, program assessment, and basic reporting; ability to facilitate workshops, health promotion events, and other peer education programs; familiarity with campus health and wellbeing resources; effective strategies for motivating people to adopt positive health behaviors; public speaking; managerial and supervisory skills; event planning and project management skills; knowledge of university and departmental policies and procedures
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
Bachelor's degree and two years' experience in health education; experience providing sexual assault prevention, sexual health promotion, AOD education, body image education, stress reduction techniques, sleep hygiene, physical activity, mental health, nutrition, healthy relationships, other health promotion related programs is highly desired; proficiency in desktop publishing, word processing, and graphic design software; willingness to learn new programs is helpful; experience with national and local conference presentations and submissions; photography, videography, and video editing skills are helpful

  • Coordinate a comprehensive health promotion program to include interdisciplinary health promotion services, wellbeing campaigns, and outreach efforts; coordinate event details and staffing schedules to accommodate programs; assist in marketing, implementing, and evaluating programs for successful outcomes; monitor and organize internal systems for efficiency and quality control; ensure educational content and materials are accurate and up to date; guide peer educator staff in applying best practices for facilitating presentations, group discussions, and health promotion workshops for students, faculty, and staff.

g., Student Engagement, Counseling Services, Recreation, Dining Services) and organizations to integrate health promotion programming, elicit involvement, and measure impact; organize and facilitate educational programs, campaigns, trainings, workshops, and events; provide health promotion coaching, education, or referrals to students seeking health-related support.

  • Develop marketing materials, newsletters, and social media content to promote health promotion programs; monitor and maintain event calendars and communication platforms; conduct outreach efforts to increase student participation in wellbeing initiatives.
