Job Description

Dean of Students Job Description This position is for the 2026-2027 school year.
PHS Mission:

Summary:
The Dean of Students serves a wide variety of functions for a wide variety of people. Their role is integral to the smooth and successful operation of the school. Given their role in communicating information among all stakeholders, the Dean of Students must be a socially skilled individual, capable of maintaining calm and reason even in the most tense of situations. They are heavily involved in the day-to-day operations as they relate to students and faculty as a whole.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Reports to Principal Facilitates safe, successful and efficient day to day school operations Recommends, administers and enforces building policies and procedures related to behavior, discipline, and learner programs. Monitors the standards of conduct for students and staff members by developing/maintaining a positive climate that encourages orderly conduct by students Plans and implements preventive disciplinary measures i.e. Positive Behavior Incentives, Behavior Management Plans, Dress Code, Tardy Incentives, Attendance Competitions, etc. Exercises appropriate leadership in processing student behavioral problems including accurate record keeping of infractions as well as communication with parents and staff. Responsible for implementation and facilitation of student safety school wide to include lockdown and fire drill plans. Attends school-related activities and events to oversee student behavior and achievements Ensures school calendar is up-to-date and communicates important dates to all stakeholders Manages AM and PM carline, school-wide duty assignments, and student parking Assists with school fundraising efforts Assists with standardized testing duties Assists with teacher observations Other duties as assigned by Principal This is a 12 month position.
Qualifications:
• Florida State-issued certification •
Preferred:
Google Apps for Education skills (Docs, Sheets, Slides, Sites, etc).
