Federally designated as a senior military college, one of the university's signature leadership programs is its 800-member Corps of Cadets on UNG's Dahlonega Campus. The University of North Georgia is currently accepting applications for an Associate Dean in the College of Health and Wellness. Reporting directly to the Dean, the Associate Dean the College of Health & Wellness serves as a member of the College Leadership Team and will support the Dean by providing leadership and oversight of the College Curriculum Committee. The Associate Dean will work collaboratively with faculty and department chairs to support program and curriculum additions and modifications in accordance with University System of Georgia (USG), University of North Georgia (UNG), and accreditation bodies. In addition, the Associate Dean will collaborate and serve as the point-of-contact person in the college for the Assistant Director of the Institute for Peak Performance (IPP). As part of their duties to the IPP, the Associate Dean will support the Assistant Director of Peak Performance and will facilitate college faculty and student engagement in research, programming, and clinical practice in IPP. The role will require frequent and purposeful interaction with a variety of constituents including but not limited to student-athletes, student-cadets, coaches, college faculty/staff/students, senior UNG administration, and community partners/stakeholders in support of the delivery of curriculum and services foundational to the College of Health & Wellness and the IPP. Curriculum development and oversight:
Serve as the Chair of the College of Health & Wellness Curriculum Committee ensuring all curricular additions and modifications are properly entered into the online curricular management system and approved in accordance with University of North Georgia (UNG) and University System of Georgia (USG)policy and procedures. Will serve as a consultant to departments in the college in curricular mapping, modification or additions as needed.
Student Success:
Supports all aspects of student success in accordance with UNG mission, vision, and as guided by the UNG Office of Student Success & Engagement. Will serve on the College student behavior and appeals committee as directed by the Dean. Will also collaborate with leadership in the Office of Student Success as needed. Faculty & staff support and development: Assists IPP and College with ongoing training of faculty and staff to update knowledge and skills. Assists with the support of faculty Interprofessional research to foster contributions beneficial to UNG and external stakeholders. Advocate, champion, and support college faculty throughout the navigation and attainment of tenure and promotion at UNG. Assist faculty in the identification and inclusion of high impactful teaching practices (HITPs). Assists dean as directed in performing annual reviews of departmental leadership. Supports the development and execution of human performance initiatives in the IPP.
Administrative support:
Supports the dean and Assistant Director of the IPP by participating and attending university and community events as directed and serves as the direct report in the dean's absence. Facilitates in recruitment and hiring of new employees in the college. Serves as a mentor and facilitator for programs' accreditation preparation and visits as directed by the dean. Assists dean as directed in performing annual reviews of departmental leadership. Assists in the development and management of the college budget.
Leadership:
Directs the creation of structures and operational systems, through team building and collaboration, that maximize the impact of faculty member technical and professional expertise and service delivery.
Team Building:
Helps to develop a network of experts and faculty members on all aspects of holistic wellness and assists in the development and implementation resources and programs to facilitate student and faculty experience and research in human performance. Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Exceptional interpersonal and presentation skills to work effectively with diverse groups and individuals internal and external to the university; Effective oral and written communication skills to accommodate a fast paced and complex work environment. Earned doctorate from an accredited institution in a field appropriate to disciplines within the College or related field; clinical degree, certification, and recent clinical service experience in one of the program areas. Professional, scholarly, and educational accomplishments commensurate with an appointment as a tenured faculty in the college. History of successful leadership experience within an academic setting. Demonstrated commitment to student retention and graduation. Preferred background in holistic approach to high level human performance and wellness with experience in athletics and/or tactical populations. Preferred history of successful curriculum development and accreditation experience.
