Job Summary The Assistant Director of Parent & Family Engagement develops and executes strategic communication and program initiatives for parents and families of Georgia College & State University students, while supporting special initiatives within the Office of Student Life. Key responsibilities include serving as the primary contact for parent emails and phone calls, planning and implementing special events and initiatives, and collaborating with Admissions on parent orientation sessions and resource tabling during admission events. The Assistant Director serves as the primary liaison to the Parent Leadership Council, partnering with University Advancement to recruit families, communicate with membership, and connect them with Admissions for ambassadorial opportunities. This position also assists with various division-wide initiatives that support the mission and vision of the Division of Student Life and Georgia College & State University. Responsibilities Program Management - 40% The Assistant Director of Parent and Family Engagement is responsible for the development and implementation of all parent and family programs and communications. Plans and executes various events and programs including but not limited to Parent and Family Weekend, Spring Family Day, parent orientation sessions in conjunction with student orientation, as well as other various other special initiatives. Maintains the communication software, CampusESP, and serves as the primary point of contact and main content creator. Serves as a first stop for parent and family communications, providing prompt responses to questions or concerns. Creates regular communications for parents and families informing them of important dates, programs, emergency notifications, etc. Works with campus partners on communication content through CampusESP and social media platforms. Marketing and Communication - 25% Helps develop and implement a comprehensive advertising and marketing plan for the Division of Student Life and specifically Parent and Family Engagement. Manages all social media accounts associated with Parent and Family Engagement and the Office of Student Life. Assists in developing and maintaining the Office of Student Life and Parent and Family web pages. Creates specialized content for various sub-groups (ex: Panhellenic recruitment emails for parents and families) Coordinating - 20% This position will serve as the liaison for Student Life with Enrollment Management and University Advancement as it pertains to parent and family engagement. In conjunction with University Advancement, the Assistant Director of Parent and Family Engagement recruits and stewards the Parent Leadership Council (PLC) and assists University Advancement staff in identifying and developing parent and family donor opportunities. Plans regular meetings of the PLC. Assists with parent and family fundraising campaigns by developing and sharing communication. Maintains PLC membership database. Helps to develop initiatives to engage parent and family donor opportunities Enrollment Management Serves as a Student Life point of contact for summer orientations, Junior Day, admitted student receptions, etc. Administrative - 10% Assists in administrative duties such as strategic planning, assessment, budgeting, and representing the department as needed. Prepares special reports; answers requests for information which may include completing questionnaires and compiling data from files. Assists with various assessment projects and data collection for the Division of Student Life. Establish program goals and outcomes. Develop an assessment plan to measure new student orientation and ensure that goals and outcomes are achieved. Other - 5% Performs other duties as assigned including but not limited to serving on division or campus committees, develop initiatives for the department and division, and implementing special projects. All employees within the Division of Student Life will assist with at least three (3) student events/programs per semester that occur outside of regular business hours. Examples of events/programs which satisfy the event service requirement include but are not limited to: Fall - Week of Welcome, Move-In days, Family Weekend Spring - Homecoming, Spring Concert, Family Day, preview days, and Junior Day. The specific list of eligible events/programs for each semester will be maintained and communicated by the Office of the Vice President for Student Life. The available salary range is $47,476.00 to $57,493.00. Starting salary within this range is based on relevant years of experience.
