Job Description

Area Coordinator Loras College sick time, long term disability, retirement plan United States, Iowa, Dubuque 1450 Alta Vista Street (Show on map) May 11, 2026 POSITION SUMMARY Under the general direction of the Director of Residence Life, coordinates the overall functioning and operation of residence life program in a residence hall environment. In addition, has a functional responsibility within the Residence Life Office.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

Essential Functions Statement(s) Given that the College is a diocesan Catholic college, will carry out your functions of your position in support of the College's Catholic Identity, mission and in support of Church teachings. Coordinates the residence life program in two to three single sex or co-educational buildings of approximately 100-225 undergraduate students; selection, training and supervision of six undergraduate student staff/paraprofessional staff. Facilitates community development programs for living/learning communities; develops and implements educational and social programming; monitors hall programming budget. Implements College discipline system; counsels/refers students with academic, personal and behavioral concerns; suggest and formulate policies for the operation of residential areas. Advises hall government; assists with Residence Hall Association; coordinate Hall Council training and development and advises hall community council. Lives on campus in the residence hall they are assigned to. Works closely with campus safety staff. Works closely with physical plant staff to coordinate building upkeep. Works with Director of Residence Life to coordinate staff selection and training. May represent residence life program on various College committees. Supports the mission and vision of the College. Performs related duties as assigned.

SKILLS & ABILITIES OTHER REQUIREMENTS
Qualified candidates will have an understanding of theory and practices of college student development; ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with administrators, faculty, students, and the local community; effective communication (oral and written) and interpersonal skills; excellent organizational skills; appreciation of the Catholic liberal arts tradition and commitment to student academic achievement; ability to plan, forecast problems, and to develop effective solutions; capability and willingness to work flexible hours and days and to respond effectively to unexpected situations. A sense of humor is a must.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
Master's Degree preferred; Bachelors and two years residence life experience required.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS AND ENVIRONMENTAL CONDITIONS
Sedentary work. Mostly involves sitting, standing and walking in well-lighted and well-ventilated offices and buildings.
COMPENSATION
Salary is competitive for entry-level position, 11-month position paid over 12 months, plus furnished apartment with utilities, free cable and local phone, meal plan, parking, and pet option.
