Job Description
Buena Vista University is seeking a Registrar—a strategic operations and records leader who ensures student information systems, processes, and reporting run smoothly and support student success. This role is ideal for professionals with experience in records management, compliance, operations leadership, data governance, or enterprise systems administration. The Registrar plays a critical role in ensuring students can register for classes, receive accurate transcripts, graduate on time, and trust that their information is handled securely and professionally. This position combines people leadership, systems oversight, and process improvement with meaningful institutional impact. Primary Responsibilities Oversee the accuracy, security, and integrity of student records for undergraduate and graduate programsManage processes related to registration, academic progress, transfer credit evaluation, and graduation certificationServe as the institutional authority on academic policy interpretation, resolving complex cases related to academic standing, degree completion, and exceptions in collaboration with faculty and academic leadershipEnsure policies and workflows are documented, followed, and continuously improvedProvide leadership for electronic record-keeping, academic catalog, advising, and student information systemsCoordinate class and room scheduling to support academic and space needs across the universityLead online services enhancements to improve usability and efficiencySupervise and support Registrar's Office staffPromote collaboration, clear communication, and strong customer service for students and campus partnersMaintain compliance with federal, state, and institutional regulations related to data privacy and reportingPrepare and contribute to internal and external reports related to enrollment, academic progress, and planningOversee grading, academic standing, and commencement processes, including final graduation audits, honors determination, diploma production, and participation in commencement planning and executionServe on university committees or assign a Registrar's Office representative, partnering with academic and administrative leadersContribute operational insight to initiatives related to retention, accreditation, curriculum, and strategic planning Requirements Bachelor's degree required, Master's degree preferredExperience working with confidential information and high-accuracy dataStrong organizational, problem-solving, and communication skillsAbility to collaborate across departments and lead through changeExperience in higher education or another highly regulated environment preferredFamiliarity with enterprise systems, data governance, or records management A background check will be conducted on the final candidate.
