TITLE:
Teacher on Special Assignment - Dean of Students
QUALIFICATIONS
Master's degree or higher preferred. Valid Idaho Certificate. Minimum of four years of full-time certificated experience working with students, Pre-K-12, while under contract in a school setting Show competency in these areas: Ability to develop, maintain, and enhance a culture of trust, respect and responsibility within an office shared with the Principal and Counselor. Agency and Growth Mindset skills (e.g., seeking challenge, growing from setbacks, seeking feedback, building relationships, impacting self & community). All forms of communication Ability to show empathy and understanding when working with students; nonjudgmental High-level listening and questioning skills used to support students in solving problems and getting help Ability to effectively communicate and build relationships with students' guardians Student behavior management/positive behavior support/restorative justice Deep understanding of student needs and motivators Ability to coach faculty in developing and implementing accommodations for students Collaboration skills (e.g., contribution of ideas, group norms, respectful tone & style, positive body language/active listening, roles, work ethic, team support). Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the Board may find appropriate and acceptable.
REPORTS TO
Building Principal.
JOB GOALS
To ensure the reflection and communication of a positive image and attitude toward decisions and functions of the district as they relate to the public, staff, parents, and students. To support the delivery of School District 91's written, taught, tested and reported curriculum and contribute to maximizing student achievement.
PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES
Assists in the general administration of the school and serves as the acting principal/counselor when the principal/counselor is absent and is so assigned. Serves as a member of the School leadership team. Collaborates and problem solves with the Principal and Counselor. Shares the responsibility with the leadership team in building a culture of trust, respect, and responsibility. Evaluates student needs and creates plans with facilitators and Leadership team to align resources. Partners with counselor to track student progress toward graduation and communicate this information to students, guardians, and facilitators. Assists students in selecting credit recovery options and monitors their progress and completion. Monitors and supports students who are struggling behaviorally, academically, or with attendance. Ensures visibility and participation in student day-to-day life and planned activities. Uses school-wide learning outcomes (agency, collaboration, oral & written communication, and knowledge & thinking) to support student progress and success. Participates in the supervision of student activities. Assists in the administration of state, AP and other testing Participates in community relations related to classroom projects and helps students connect with professionals in the community. Assists in the creation and implementation of 504 plans. Acts as an advocate for the special education program. Assists leadership team in maintaining high morale among staff and students. Assists with supervisory duties related to the gifted-talented and English language learner programs. Maintains high standards of ethical behavior and confidentiality of student information.
OTHER DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Performs all other duties as assigned consistent with the responsibilities of a certified staff member and the Idaho Code of Ethics.
TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT
This is a full-time position scheduled for 209 days. Benefits will be in accordance with approved Board policy. Salary will be in accordance with the placement in the Collective Bargaining Agreement commensurate with years of experience and education.

Performance of this position will be evaluated annually by the Building Principal in accordance with Board policy.
