(BL-ADMS-IUBLA) Department Information The Office of Enrollment Management (OEM) at Indiana University (IUB) Bloomington is dedicated to attracting, enrolling, and supporting a community of talented students from Indiana, across the nation, and around the world. OEM integrates strategic planning, data-informed decision-making, and collaborative partnerships across campus to create a seamless student experience from first contact through graduation. Through its units Admissions, Scholarships, the Registrar, Student Financial Assistance, Student Central, Orientation and Enrollment Programs, Retention, Planning and Research, Enrollment Marketing and Communications, Administration and Fiscal Affairs, and Development OEM advances the university's mission by fostering access, belonging, and student success while upholding Indiana University (IU) Bloomington's tradition of academic excellence and public service. The Office of Admissions (ADMS) is the front-facing department to the public for undergraduate recruitment for the Indiana University Bloomington campus. The Office of Admissions is responsible for recruiting the freshman class each year, counseling prospective students and their families about the admissions process, providing accurate information to the public about our recruiting requirements and standards, and marketing Indiana University Bloomington. IUB College Access Advising places exceptional recent college graduates into high schools around the state of Indiana to increase college access and promote a college-going culture among first-generation, underserved, and low-income high schools. IUB College Access Advising (CAA) is changing lives with our community and student-centric approach to post-secondary access and completion. IUB College Access Advisors (IUB CAA) members provide essential support to students who are on this path at various stages throughout high school. Members provide mentoring, academic support, coaching, program planning and implementation, and other activities to contribute to the success of students. Members will work collaboratively with the Office of Admissions Early Outreach and Engagement team to assist with the new IUBound program. Members will receive extensive training in a variety of areas to prepare them for a rewarding and successful placement with IUB CAA. Job Summary Department Specific Responsibilities Assigned a caseload of students and are charged with providing 1-on-1 advising, academic support, and mentorship, while also leading or co-leading programs for students and families. Serves as key members of the student support team, working primarily during the week with occasional weekend commitments. Provides 1 on 1 college admissions and financial aid advisement to students. Helps students complete and submit admissions and financial aid applications. Presents in classrooms, assemblies, and student organization meetings over the importance of post-secondary education and services advisers provide. Organizes events and activities to promote post-secondary education. Collaborates with school personnel to promote the college-going culture at the high school. General Responsibilities Oversees the processing and evaluation of all applications for admissions into that school and accompanying material, such as transcripts, to determine eligibility. Maintains records and databases of applications; updates and purges as necessary; gathers and collates information from records and prepares reports. Reviews applications for completeness, contacts applicants for any missing information or to resolve discrepancies, and obtains any necessary information from other sources. Schedules and oversees any applicant interviews. Makes recommendations regarding admissions and financial aid decisions; contacts applicant regarding the decision on the admission application. Responds to phone and email inquiries on admissions process and status of applications; may assist in the design of recruiting events and materials. Counsels potential students regarding courses and grades required for admission. May supervise temporary staff in the admissions office; monitors and evaluates job performance. Maintains files and databases on students admitted into the school; generates reports based on this information. May take on escalated and complex issues; may provide guidance to other admissions staff. Qualifications Combinations of related education and experience may be considered. Bilingual (Spanish) Working Conditions / Demands This role requires the ability to effectively communicate and to operate a computer and other standard office productivity equipment. The position involves sedentary work as well as periods of time moving around an office environment and the campus. The person in this role must be able to perform the essential functions with or without an accommodation. This position requires availability to work nights and weekends for scheduled events and for urgent student needs. Additional Information IUB CAAs work full-time, Monday through Friday, and a handful of Saturdays each semester; with an increase in hours in the summer to accommodate the summer program schedule. Their schedules may shift slightly during peak times, such as the summer, to align with program needs. Work Location Franklin Central High School Franklin, Indiana This is an in-person position.
