Indianapolis Position Summary
The Executive Associate Dean for Faculty Affairs (EADFA) is the strategic faculty affairs leader for the Indiana University School of Nursing Core. The EADFA provides leadership to strategically develop, align, and sustain faculty affairs systems across the Bloomington, Fort Wayne, and Indianapolis campuses. Responsibilities include oversight of faculty search and recruitment frameworks, cross-campus appointment and review processes, and cross-campus faculty development structures. The EADFA ensures process integrity, alignment with campus and university expectations, and effective integration of faculty affairs operations across the Core School. The EADFA reports to the Dean. The Executive Associate Dean for Faculty Affairs is a 12-month appointment with workload at 100% administrative or 80% administrative with 20% research/teaching.
FUNCTIONS
Providing overall leadership for the vision, institutional alignment, long-term planning, policies, and overall success of faculty affairs.
Ensuring procedural integrity, compliance, fairness, and consistency of appointment, promotion, and tenure (APT) processes across the Core School.
Overseeing in concert with Human Resources the faculty search and recruitment strategy, standards, timelines, and coordination across Core School campuses.
Developing, coordinating, and overseeing mentoring and professional development frameworks for faculty across all ranks and tracks.
Ensuring integration of faculty affairs policies, guidelines, and governance structures with IUSON, campus, and university expectations.
Serving as the administrative liaison for relevant faculty governance committees (APT, Faculty Affairs, Faculty Awards, Faculty Bylaws, Faculty Council).
Representing the Core School at relevant campus, university, regional, national, and international meetings and events related to faculty affairs.
Ensuring accountability for faculty affairs performance metrics across the Core School, including process timelines and outcome measures.
Ensuring administrative processes supporting faculty affairs are efficient, compliant, and well-integrated across Bloomington, Fort Wayne, and Indianapolis campuses.
Basic Qualifications
QUALIFICATIONS
Earned doctorate, nursing or health science major preferred.
If doctorate is not in nursing, a masters in nursing is required.
Must be eligible for Indiana RN licensure.
Eligible for appointment as a Tenured Full Professor.
Academic administrative experience at senior management level.
Demonstrated experience in faculty affairs, academic governance, or faculty development.
Teaching experience at graduate and undergraduate levels.
Demonstrated ability to function effectively in a large, complex organization.
