Job Description The Assistant Director of Academic Affairs provides high-level academic advising and comprehensive academic support services to the Notre Dame Law School students, with a primary focus on the Juris Doctor (JD) program. This role is essential in fostering student success through personalized academic advising, the creation of robust educational programming, and the development of strategic written resources. Acting as a key administrator, the Assistant Director designs and implements foundational policies and procedures that govern the Law School's academic support infrastructure. Core Responsibilities Strategic Academic Advising & Student Support Provide direct, individualized academic advising to students, assisting with course selection, graduation requirements, and personalized success plans. Develop and facilitate innovative programming and workshops designed to enhance academic performance and professional readiness. Draft and maintain comprehensive online resources and guides to support student navigation of the Law School curriculum. Formulate and refine departmental policies and procedures regarding academic advising and support to ensure consistency and excellence. Strategic Initiatives & Collaboration Partner closely with the Registrar & Director of Academic Affairs to identify, develop, and execute strategic initiatives. Contribute to the long-term expansion of the Law School's academic advising portfolio and support resources. Serve as a primary liaison for students navigating the complexities of the legal education environment. Coordinate and supervise the Teaching Assistants for required 1L courses Bar Preparation & Specialized Academic Services Coordinate the development of bar exam application resources and strategic preparation materials to assist students in their transition to legal practice. Manage the implementation of disability accommodations specifically related to the Law School's examinations. Provide guidance on academic standards and institutional regulations to ensure student compliance with degree requirements Operational & Event Leadership Manage various administrative duties essential to the daily operation of the Office of Academic Affairs. Assist with the the logistical execution of high-stakes, complex academic events, including Commencement and the comprehensive administration of law school examinations.
