Conduct regularly scheduled 30-minute individual coaching meetings with each assigned student, twice per 8-week block, to review academic performance, examination performance feedback, evaluative comments, and progress toward mastery of competencies. Review all relevant student performance information in electronic dashboards (KACES, OASIS), including student self-assessments, prior to each meeting. Assist students in identifying areas of sub-optimal performance and collaboratively develop strategies for improvement; encourage self-assessment, self-reflection, and guided goal setting. Make appropriate referrals and assist students in accessing resources for educational and personal support, including tutoring, mental health services, and career advising. Support students during the remediation process and meet ad hoc with students experiencing academic, personal, or professional difficulties. Maintain accurate and timely documentation of student interactions in the designated database, with strict adherence to academic confidentiality guidelines. Participate in faculty development surrounding coaching strategies, academic policy, and student affairs resources prior to and throughout each academic year. Attend student professional development sessions; for ADs assigned to M1 students, attend M1 Orientation sessions. Facilitate and participate in wellness programming and Society activities; collaborate with Lukert Society co-presidents as appropriate to promote Society identity. Report issues of student performance, professional development, or student morale directly to the Lukert Society Director and the Associate Dean for Student Affairs-Salina. Work collegially with colleagues in the Societies, Office of Medical Education (OME), Office of Student Affairs (OSA), Block Directors, and other Salina faculty to promote the best interests of students and the program. Ensure all student interactions and Society activities fall within KUSM policies and practices for professionalism, including confidentiality. - Salina, Health Education Center (138 N. Santa Fe, Salina, KS 67401). 0.1 FTE faculty appointment (approximately 4 hours per week). Appointments are initially for one academic year (July 1
- June 30) with the expectation for annual renewal.
Designated hours are typically completed on Tuesdays (for M2 ADs) or Thursdays (for M1 ADs), 1:00-5:00 PM, mirroring Kansas City Society activity blocks. Alternative scheduling may be arranged in collaboration with the Associate Dean for Student Affairs-Salina.
Hybrid:
most coaching is conducted in person at the Health Education Center; coaching may at times be conducted asynchronously.
