Job Description

Description The Department Chair is responsible for providing instructional leadership and operational oversight for assigned academic programs. This role includes teaching responsibilities as well as the day-to-day management, supervision of personnel, and overall program health. The Director ensures academic quality, compliance with accreditation and credentialing requirements, fiscal responsibility, and alignment with institutional goals. The Department Chair reports to the Associate Dean, Dean, Academic Vice President, or President and performs duties as assigned.

$49,108.80 /yr
Worksite Location:
South Campus Start Date Fall 2026 Teaching Responsibilities Teaches in assigned instructional modalities (face-to-face, hybrid, or online) during day, evening, or weekend offerings at any WSU Tech campus or online location. Maintains a full teaching load of 15 credit hours per semester, with the possibility of up to 9 additional credit hours as overload. Core Responsibilities Program Leadership & Operations Provides leadership for the day-to-day operations, overall health, and strategic direction of assigned academic programs. Curriculum, Accreditation & Compliance Oversees curriculum development, program review, assessment, licensure, credentialing, and accreditation activities to ensure compliance with institutional, state, and industry standards. Faculty Leadership & Development Supervises, evaluates, mentors, and supports full-time and adjunct faculty, ensuring instructional quality and consistency across modalities. Instructional Planning & Resources Coordinates course scheduling, instructional delivery, learning technologies, equipment, materials, and safety practices to support high-quality education. Fiscal Management & Collaboration Assists with budget planning, ensures fiscal viability of programs, and collaborates with college departments, industry partners, and community stakeholders to support student success.
Requirements Education:
Master's degree in Education or a related field from an accredited institution.
Experience:
Strong classroom management skills. Experience working with students with learning disabilities or a demonstrated willingness to learn. Ability to teach in face-to-face, hybrid, and/or online instructional modalities. Effective communication, organization, and collaboration skills. Availability to begin in the Fall semester .
