Job Summary The Center for Support and Intervention (CSI) is part of the university's commitment to proactively address issues of concern involving our students and/or employees. Our paramount concern is maintaining the safety of all members of the university community while fostering an environment for success including connection to appropriate resources and encouragement of self-advocacy for students. The position is a part of the broader Dean of Students structure. The Assistant Director for the Center for Support and Intervention (CSI) serves as an operational leader within the office and supports the university's commitment to student wellbeing, advocacy, and holistic student success. Reporting to the Director of CSI, this position provides operational coordination and leadership for case management services, crisis response efforts, student advocacy initiatives, and office workflow management. The Assistant Director supervises professional staff, maintains an advanced student caseload, and supports coordination of complex student situations requiring cross-campus collaboration and intervention. This position serves as a key resource for staff regarding crisis response, behavioral concerns, and student support strategies while promoting timely, student-centered service delivery. The Assistant Director also supports assessment, reporting, and operational improvement efforts for the office through data analysis, process evaluation, and implementation of best practices related to higher education case management and student support services. This role assists with outreach, training, campus partnerships, and university-wide student wellbeing initiatives. In collaboration with the Director, the Assistant Director helps ensure continuity of operations during crisis situations and periods of increased student need while fostering a collaborative, responsive, and supportive office environment. Student Success will, from the time of early college outreach to graduation and beyond, support students in living a life of meaning and purpose. From a student-centered framework, our practice will be grounded in peer-reviewed literature, national best practices, and data-informed decision-making. Collaborating with the campus and community, Student Success will work through a holistic lens to support a community of learners in achieving success.
Skills / Knowledge
/ Abilities The ideal candidate will have experience providing case management services, either in a higher education or community based setting; experience providing supervision and staff and program development; experience with evidence based practice and data informed strategic planning; knowledge of issues or difficulties facing student populations with lower retention rates; knowledge of college student mental health and campus and community resources; experience responding to individuals with complex support needs and facing barriers to services; ability to respond compassionately to a variety of student needs and concerns; integrating knowledge of social justice, inclusion, oppression, privilege and power into practice; excellent interpersonal, decision making and communication skills; strong attention to detail; ability to demonstrate independent judgment regarding student issues. We are seeking a collaborative team player with high emotional intelligence. Experience with MS Windows, MS Office (Word, PowerPoint) and database management skills.
