Job Description
The Assistant Registrar works as a member of the LSUS Registrar's Office in the Academic Affairs division performing a range of tasks supporting and assisting with the management of the university academic records and student registration functions. Reports to the Associate Registrar and is a full-time, unclassified position. This summary is not a comprehensive or all-inclusive description of duties and responsibilities.
Required Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree. 2 year's experience in student registration related functions or related experience. Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite.Preferred Qualifications:
Prior university/higher education experience with student registration processes, policies, and regulations. Project management experience.Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
Attention to detail with strong organizational skills and a commitment to accuracy in data management. Ability to work effectively under pressure while maintaining professionalism, collegiality, and excellent customer service. Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills. Manages degree checkout process and degree certification Coordinates degree checkout collection, review and authorization Coordinates final grade processing for prospective graduates Ensures the accuracy and integrity of the awarding of degrees Provides weekly graduation report to Registrar Report includes list of expected graduates listed by term and major; includes graduates' expected attendance at pending ceremony and whether they are first-generation college students. Manages transcript evaluation process Serves as a resource to University faculty, staff, and students regarding transfer credit issues Monitors accuracy of evaluated transcripts based on university transfer credit policy Assists transcript evaluators in the research and review of course descriptions to determine transfer credit eligibility Maintains the accuracy, integrity, and security of all students' academic records Supervises, trains, develops, and evaluates unclassified staff and student employees Performs additional duties as assigned Physical and Environmental Demands Light Work - Exerting up to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 10 pounds of force frequently, and/or a negligible amount of force constantly (Constantly:
activity or condition exists 2/3 or more of the time) to move objects. Physical demand requirements are in excess of those for Sedentary Work. Even though the weight lifted may be only a negligible amount, a job should be rated Light Work when it requires walking or standing to a significant degree or when it requires sitting most of the time but entails pushing and/or pulling of arm or leg controls.
