ACCOUNTABILITY OBJECTIVE
The Associate Director is an energetic and flexible employee who is eager to work in our therapeutic day school with a high needs population of students ages 5 to 22. This position is accountable for the efficient operation of all aspects of the school facility consistent with the sound educational principles and philosophy of education which strongly emphasizes student learning and success. The Associate Director, working under the general direction of the Deputy Director, will be responsible for an equal share of the general administrative duties required to effectively and efficiently operate system wide functions within the context of a team approach and for providing effective leadership for the implementation of the goals of the Central MA Special Education Collaborative.
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES
1. Responsible for supervising and facilitating the development, articulation and implementation of a vision of learning that appropriately involves staff, parents, students and community partners to identify and to accomplish the programs mission and goals in line with the mission and goals of the Central MA Collaborative.2. Responsible for promoting a positive school climate that fosters high student expectations and employs appropriate strategies that address multiple learning styles for all students.3. Collaborates with the Director to evaluate existing programs and assist in the enhancement of (new) programs and services including grant writing, budget preparation and professional development that serves the needs of the program and the Central MA Collaborative.4. Demonstrates effective interpersonal and communication skills, including oral and written communication, public relations, and group dynamics, to continually promote the school and its students positively and in a professional manner at all opportunities.5. Responsible for facilitating communication to build community partnerships and coordination of services across staff with all programs and buildings.6. Attends and co-leads the program leadership team monthly to develop, monitor and evaluate short- and long-range objectives to reflect program, service and organizational goals.7. Responsible for assisting with referrals and intakes of students and developing master schedules for staff and students that meet the students educational needs. Must have knowledge of alternative scheduling methods, including restructuring practices.8. Assists with monitoring student placement, progress and promotes optimum attendance of all students through close communication with administration, teachers, clinicians, students and parents.9. Responsible for assisting with the exploring, assessing and implementing a rigorous academic and behavioral curriculum that is individualized to meet the diverse needs of students aligned with the Massachusetts State Frameworks.10. Responsible for supervising testing programs and using test data to improve classroom instruction and develop individualized student support plans.11. Implements sound discipline processes for reinforcement of procedures defined by the policy statement of the Central Massachusetts Collaborative on student behavior.12. Assists the Director in maintaining student records and required data, evaluating student program effectiveness and making recommendations for changes needed to comply with DESE and other guidelines.13. Completes all mandated state and federal reports as assigned and prepares and/or assists in the preparation of state and federal grants and reports.14. Demonstrates effective crisis management skills and the ability to deal with all stakeholders and situations in a professional manner at all times.15. Complete CPI/nonviolent crisis intervention training upon hire and maintain CPI/nonviolent crisis intervention certification.16. In concert with the Central Office, responsible for assisting with personnel selection, assignments, supervision, support and evaluation which encourage professional growth in staff performance and ensures ensures licensure requirements are met.17. Responsible for supervising the daily use of school facilities and transportation in the area of both academic and non-academic activities and assures the smooth operation of all program components.20. Oversees the effective inventory of school supplies and assures proper usage, timely distribution, monitoring and acquisition of materials needed for instruction through close communication with teachers.21. Responsible for developing and sustaining the maintenance of a clean, safe physical plant and assists in the planning and supervision of emergency evaluation and preparedness programs.22. Performance of other job-related duties as assigned.
