Job Description

Job Description At the Michigan Department of Lifelong Education, Advancement, and Potential, we are laser-focused on improving opportunities and outcomes for Michiganders from preschool to postsecondary. MiLEAP was created by Governor Whitmer in July 2023 and is the newest department in the State of Michigan. This position functions as the 21st Century Community Learning Centers (CCLC) Manager. The position will provide leadership, management and direction in the development of regulations, rules, procedures, standards, and policies for 21st Century Community Learning Centers. Primary responsibilities as the 21st CCLC manager are planning, development, and implementing of all grant management activities, overseeing technical assistance and supports, and supervision of assigned personnel on a daily basis. This position will work with the Director of OST Learning and Camp Licensing, and other partnering state agencies/organizations to fulfill the goals and obligations of MiLEAP and the programs. This person leads the 21st CCLC program unit team to support school districts, institutions of higher education, and other community-based agencies with their overall 21st CCLC program development, implementation, and evaluation. This position performs a broad range of duties, including budget development and monitoring, project planning and scheduling, coordinating communications, program monitoring, overseeing implementation of processes and procedures related to law or policy development/revisions, evaluation and reporting on the status of 21st CCLC programs. Position Description Required Education and Experience This position generally requires the education acquired through the possession of a master's degree in a field of secondary or elementary education; higher education administration, guidance and counseling; school psychology; educational psychology; school social work; the social sciences; vocational education; mathematics; or, a field related to education program administration (nonacademic) and three years of administrative or consultative experience in the field of K-12 or early childhood education, including one year of professional experience equivalent to a P13-level Educational Consultant, Education Field Services Consultant, Education Guidance Consultant, Education Research Consultant, Higher Education Consultant, School District Consultant, Special Education Consultant, or Vocational Education Consultant. Specific information on the education and experience required for different class levels is in the job specification for the Education Consultant Manager class.
