Job Description
Position Overview The Dean of Students serves as a key member of the school's leadership team, responsible for fostering a faith-filled, respectful and disciplined learning environment rooted in Franciscan values. The Dean of students supports the holistic development of young women by promoting academic integrity, personal responsibility, and spiritual growth. The Dean of Students collaborates closely with faculty, staff, students, parents and the outside community to uphold the mission of Regina High School. Mission Alignment The Dean of Students actively supports & models the Franciscan mission through embracing the charisms of humility, compassion, service and respect for all creation and encouraging students to grow as faith-filled leaders committed to fostering beauty, dignity, and goodness in the world through purposeful action and service to others. Key Responsibilities The Dean of Students will lead and oversee all aspects of student life including cultivating and maintaining a Franciscan culture, behavior, discipline and restorative practices. Student Life & Culture Promote a positive, inclusive, and respectful school culture for all students Proactively maintain awareness of student culture including daily classroom walkthroughs Develop programming that supports our Franciscan mission Oversee student conduct and ensure alignment with handbook policies and Franciscan values Discipline & Behavior Develop and implement fair, restorative discipline practices Address behavioral concerns with a focus on growth, accountability, and reconciliation Collaborate with faculty, counselors and families to support student well-being Faith Formation Partner with Campus Ministry to integrate faith into student life Encourage participation in liturgies, retreats, and service opportunities Serve as a visible faith leader within the school community Student Support Responsible for addressing attendance concerns when a student fails to meet established attendance regulations so that students are engaged in their learning at the highest level for their academic success and social wellbeing Support initiatives related to social well being and character formation Serve as an advocate for students while maintaining high expectations Stay informed about best student affairs and youth development practices and integrate them into school policies and programs Collaboration & Communication Collaborate with the principal on a regular basis to ensure that both the Dean of Students and Principal are aware of all student issues and problem solve together as needed Collaborate with attendance personnel to establish a streamlined approach to tracking and solving attendance/tardy issues Work with students & families to ensure there is common understanding of the student handbook Work closely with faculty and staff to support student success Communicate regularly with parents/guardians regarding student development Participate in leadership meetings and contribute to school-wide initiatives
Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree required; Teacher certification required; Masters in education preferred. At least five years teaching experience required Experience in a leadership role; Ability to oversee school operations when Principal is off campus Demonstrate strong critical thinking skills Ability to adapt quickly, think strategically in dynamic situations, and implement effective solutions Excellent communication and conflict-resolution skills Ability to establish & maintain confidential & professional working relationships with all stakeholders Experience working within a diverse community with a demonstrated commitment to equity awareness Ability to work occasional evenings and weekends as necessary to attend eventsCompensation & Benefits:
