1/1/26 The Purpose and Ministry of the Director of Student Engagement The Director of Engagement provides leadership, oversight, and coordination for all non-athletic co-curricular programs at Lutheran High School. This role exists to foster a vibrant, Christcentered student experience that supports spiritual formation, leadership development, creativity, service, and community engagement beyond the classroom. The Director of Engagement works to ensure that student life programs reflect the mission, vision, and core values of LHS and provide meaningful opportunities for students to grow socially, emotionally, intellectually, and spiritually as they prepare for lives of Christian leadership and service. Accountability The Director of Engagement is accountable to the Principal of Lutheran High School for the performance of his/her responsibilities as outlined. Annual performance goals may be established. Terms of Service The Director of Engagement is an "at will" employee, a status understood under Missouri law to be one in which the relationship between the school and the employee may be terminated at any time with or without cause. It is assumed that, given a positive performance review, employment will be ongoing. This position is a stipend position. Duties and responsibilities are in addition to those assigned to the employee associated with additional job title(s) (for example: teacher). Christian Witness Characteristics Dedicated to Christ-centered service to young people and their families. Models love and care for youth while being trustworthy in relationships and commitments. Ministers to faculty, parents, students, alumni, and other members of the Association Leads as a servant, promotes consistent servant leadership and Christ-centered decision making. Models the Christian faith in professional & personal activities. Conveys the Association's mission with passion clearly and directly. Qualifications Hold a bachelor's degree from an accredited school of education and provide a transcript of credits. Hold or be willing to obtain a master's degree in administration or a related field. Skills in working with people (visitors, students, staff) Related job experience preferred. Must successfully pass a criminal background check.
Positional Responsibilities of Student Life, Activities, and Clubs:
Program Oversight & Student Life Leadership Provide oversight, coordination, and administration of all non-athletic student life programs, including clubs, organizations, fine arts, leadership groups, and co-curriculars. Develop and maintain policies, procedures, and handbooks related to student life, activities, fundraisers, and student travel to ensure safety and compliance. Create, manage, and communicate a comprehensive annual student life calendar that includes activities, events, service opportunities, leadership programming, and school-wide traditions. Partner with the Director of Mission Identity & Service to intentionally integrate faith formation, worship, service, and spiritual growth opportunities into student life programming. Clubs, Organizations, and Student Leadership Oversee and provide oversight and administrative support for all student clubs and organizations (including Fine Arts, Theatre, Music, and Robotics), ensuring mission alignment, advisor support, and student engagement. Lead the recruitment, interview, selection, and training of club and activity advisors. Observe and meet regularly with advisors to support program quality, student development, and mission alignment. Coordinate and supervise Student Council, including approval of initiatives and events Develop and facilitate student leadership training, retreats, and formation opportunities. Support the planning and execution of performances, productions, showcases, and competitions in a manner consistent with the LHS mission and Christian decorum. Support class leadership, club officers, and student leaders in modeling Christian character, initiative, and service. School Culture, Events, and Community Engagement Provide oversight and administrative support for major student life events including Homecoming, dances, Prom, senior events, all retreats, and recognition programs. Assist advisors with school spirit initiatives, student sections, pep assemblies, and communitybuilding traditions that strengthen school culture and unity. Partner with Admissions and Advancement to support student involvement in recruitment events, marketing efforts, alumni engagement, and community outreach. Operations, Communication, and Compliance Serve as a primary point of communication between students, parents, advisors, and administration regarding student life programs and events. Coordinate facility usage, transportation, and communication related to student life opportunities. Manage student life budgets and support responsible fiscal stewardship. Fulfill all applicable MSHSAA requirements (rosters, etc.) related to non-athletic activities. Supervision & Collaboration Work closely with the Principal in supervising student life events and programs. Facilitate conflict resolution within student organizations and activities. Collaborate with faculty, staff, and administration to ensure student life supports academic goals and whole-student development.
