Job Description

Admissions Evaluator (Part-time) The University of Southern Mississippi is currently accepting applications for the position of Admissions Evaluator (Part-time). Position Details Location Hattiesburg 118 College Drive Hattiesburg, Mississippi, 39406-0001 United States Division Office of Admissions Position Type Staff Employment Status Part Time Grant Funded No Pay Grade N05 Posting Close Date Open Until Filled Special Instructions to Applicants Applicants must be currently authorized to work in the United States on a full-time basis without the need for visa sponsorship. The University will not sponsor applicants for work visas (e.g., H-1B). Job Summary The Admissions Evaluator performs assessments of applicants for admissibility and renders admissions decisions and performs the necessary data entry related to admission evaluation. The evaluator is responsible for posting transfer credits. Primary Job Duties and Responsibilities Interpret admission requirements set by state institutions of Higher Learning Board to evaluate applicants and render admission decisions. Interpret university policies to analyze former students for readmission to the university and render readmission decisions and performs the necessary data entry Evaluate external submitted coursework, credits, and examinations for undergraduate students and articulates coursework to student's university degree plan. Counsel students and parents as needed regarding admissibility and university enrollment. Performs admissions-related functions for orientation participants, including but not limited to: communicating missing information to registrants, ensuring accuracy of data, and monitoring admissions statuses of all registrants. Participation in admissions and recruitment events, answering Admissions phone lines. Other duties as assigned. Minimum Qualifications Associates degree in business education or a related field and two years of experience in admissions related functions in higher education. Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities (KSA) Excellent written and oral communication skills Ability to work some nights and weekends Knowledge of Microsoft Office Ability to utilize a PC and keyboard to perform data entry Ability to adapt in an environment with rapidly changing priorities Ability to maintain cooperative relationships with colleagues. Preferred Qualifications Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university.
