Position Function:
The Recruitment and Scholarship Coordinator position provides support to the Office of Admissions and Student Success by leading student recruitment efforts for the College of Veterinary Medicine. Primary roles of the position are to: (1) advise and recruit prospective students to MSU with the goal of attending veterinary school, (2) counsel and support prospective students through the application and enrollment process, including scholarship opportunities and financial aid options, (3) coordinate and assist with admissions functions and student success activities and events for prospective and current students, and (4) develop and implement robust communication plans to attract applicants from various backgrounds and geographic regions to the college.
Salary Grade:
14 Please see Staff Compensation Structure or Skilled Crafts and Service Maintenance Compensation Schedule for salary ranges. For salary grade UC, these positions are "Unclassified" and salary ranges are determined by the hiring department.
Area of Specialization:
Office of Admissions & Student Success Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
1. Engage with prospective students through various channels including high school visits, college fairs, informational sessions and individual meetings; providing detailed information about the DVM program, admissions procedures, and student life. 2. Collaborate with academic and administrative units in the Colleges and the MSU campus (MSU Career Center, Financial Aid & Scholarships, Undergraduate Admissions, Parking Services) regarding admissions events, procedures, policies, and related matters. 3. Manage and maintain a portfolio of DVM and early entry admissions applications 4. Maintain and develop a robust communication plan (e.g. emails, newsletter, social media, mailouts, text messaging) that deliver content to prospective students through multiple channels and mediums a. Coordinate a variety of student recruitment and enrollment initiatives, such as development of recruitment materials (through collaboration with the CVM communications and marketing team), recruitment events, and managing groups of veterinary students involved with activities 5. Oversee and maintain systems related to student recruitment, leveraging data analytics to inform and enhance recruitment strategies and decision-making processes 6. Maintain relations with high schools, academies, community/ junior colleges and other universities 7. Address and refer inquiries and informational requests from faculty, students, and parents or guardians. 8. Coordinate and manage admissions events and activities, including campus tours, informational sessions, and recruitment events with prospective students and orientation for current students, including EEP student orientation. 9. Manage the recruitment, selection and mentoring of CVM Envoys 10. Manage DVM scholarship processes a. Counsel students on financial aid process and providing information on available resources b. Provide support to the CVM Scholarship Committee c. Maintain CVM scholarships including managing the award distribution in accordance with established criteria and donor preference 11. Contribute to the development of student success activities centered around financial literacy 12. Other responsibilities deemed appropriate (e.g., grantsmanship for recruiting and scholarships) 13. Perform related duties as assigned.

May be responsible for training, assisting, or assigning tasks to others. May provide input to performance reviews of other employees.

Master's Degree in Student Affairs and additional years of admissions and student affairs experience beyond the minimum
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
  • University level recruiting experience and demonstrated success.
  • Experience advising at the undergraduate level and above
  • Proficient skill in the use of personal computers and related software applications including Microsoft Word, Adobe Creative Cloud applications, and Excel and shared documents or forms
  • Familiarity with usage of Banner and CRM systems such as Slate
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills, including public speaking experience
  • Independent self-starter and team player with strong work ethic.
  • Ability to coordinate a wide variety of tasks and projects simultaneously and prioritize work functions with attention to details

Job frequently requires talking, sitting, hearing, and handling objects with hands. Job occasionally requires standing, walking, reaching, and lifting up to 25 pounds.
