Primary Purpose of the
Position:
This full-time position supervises student Peer Navigators within the facility, manages overall student activity data collection, and oversees daily Campus Recreation facility operations, including hiring, training, scheduling, evaluation, and development of 30+ student and part-time staff. The position ensures safe, inclusive, and efficient facility management while promoting participation and engagement in recreational opportunities. The position is considered essential personnel. Ensures that facilities are operating and staffed, including on nights, weekends, holidays, and in the event the University is closed due to inclement weather. This position is funded by non-state funds and has been designated time-limited. Continuation of this position is contingent upon the continuing availability of those non-state funds.
Minimum Education and Experience Requirements:
Bachelor's degree and one year of related work experience; or equivalent combination of training and experience. All degrees must be received from appropriately accredited institutions.
Knowledge skills and abilities:
Experience working in a collegiate setting with direct supervision of student staff. General knowledge of operations tied to the management of a multipurpose facility. Experience overseeing a diverse staff structure, including students and part-time staff. American Red Cross First Aid/CPR/AED instructor certification. Demonstrated diversity advocate. Ability to plan and make decisions independently. Excellent interpersonal skills, including customer service skills. Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing. Demonstrated proficiency in the use of computers and relevant software applications Demonstrated diversity advocate.
Preferred Qualifications:
Master's degree. 2+ years of professional experience in developing and supervising student and/or part-time employees. Graduate assistantship experience is acceptable. 2+ years of professional experience working with facility operations, supervising, and/or coordinating weight and fitness areas. Experience developing and delivering both job-specific and professional development training for part-time and student employees. Experience in assessing participant participation and satisfaction.
