Job Description
The UJA Manhattan Division engages donors through neighbor engagement, synagogue affiliation, community participation, and intergenerational experiences. No matter what age or stage a person is in life, the Manhattan Division is a go-to resource to connect with peers and change lives through meaningful volunteer projects, content-rich experiences, neighborhood and synagogue-based networks, UJA Pride, community events, and leadership development. Congregation Kehilath Jeshurun and UJA-Federation of New York are longtime partners in doing good. Through KJ synagogue dues and the Yom Kippur appeal, UJA receives donations from KJ members. The Development Associate/ Executive will work closely with the synagogue clergy and leadership to engage the synagogue members through boutique and volunteer events and opportunities for the KJ Community. The Development Associate/Executive will also be charged with cultivating donor relationships to strengthen the UJA annual campaign through one-on-one engagement, group programs and events, educational content, leadership opportunities, and more. The Center for Youth Philanthropy and Leadership (CYPL) operates within the Manhattan division and provides an opportunity for families to connect with UJA-Federation through a model of intergenerational philanthropy. The Development Associate/Executive will oversee the Give a Mitzvah-Do a Mitzvah (GMDM) program, which is designed to provide custom fundraising and volunteer experiences for families celebrating a b'nai mitzvah. They will also work cross-divisionally throughout UJA to implement a multigenerational engagement strategy to cultivate deeper relationships with families with middle school-aged children. The Development Associate/Executive will work closely with UJA agency partners to serve as a liaison for volunteer projects and site visits. They will also serve as a facilitator for The Philanthropic Advisory Council for Teens (PACT). PACT meets seven Sundays throughout the year and offers high school students a foundation board experience where they will learn and practice the ABCs of fundraising, explore philanthropy through a Jewish lens, and discover the breadth and depth of UJA's powerful work.
Major Responsibilities:
Manage the KJ fundraising portfolio and develop prospecting strategy to grow UJA's donor base within the KJ community Oversee GMDM including prospecting, project management, proposal presentation and allocations, family engagement and follow-up Provide support and work closely with the director of CYPL to participate in strategic planning for the overall department Develop and implement new programming for families with elementary and middle school-aged children Serve as UJA liaison for family volunteer projects Work as PACT facilitator on seven Sundays throughout the year Support Manhattan team through event staffing Oversee general Manhattan fundraising portfolio Maintain records of donor portfolios and evaluate progress regularly with supervisorCompetencies/Experience:
Experience in teen education, engagement, and family programming Excellent relationship building, interpersonal skills, and customer-service orientation Ability to inspire and influence others Ability to work collaboratively with a team and to manage multiple tasks Strong written and verbal communication skills required, as well as active listening skills Knowledge of issues facing the Jewish community and a strong commitment and passion to the mission of UJA-Federation Entrepreneurial and self-starter Willingness to be flexible with time and to work on Sundays as needed Strong attention to detail, ability to solve problems and work independently Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Word and Excel required Bachelor's degree required Three years' experience preferredSalary Range:
The salary range for this role is $66,500 - 75,000, commensurate with qualifications listed above.Reporting Structure:
