The College for Living Assistant Director is responsible for assisting in the creation and sustainability of effective and high-quality educational programs that serve students with intellectual disabilities.MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES
Recruit for potential students by connecting with local schools Conduct intake meetings for potential students in collaboration with the Director of College for Living Plan and oversee the daily schedule for staff and students within College for Living Department Perform research for program coursework Prepare and design curriculum for courses Train staff members to effectively teach the curriculum Teach coursework within the Foundation's Group Day habilitation program Observe and monitor staff members in the classroom Conduct and host Life plan meetings with outside agencies for students (two per year, 30 students) Write and/or review approximately 60-day habilitation plans per year Review and modify student day habilitation goals quarterly Communicate daily with transportation vendor, families, and Medicaid Service providers, Attend trainings and workshops with Director through OPWDD for waiver updates, supported employment, and agency specific information Establish and implement new programming i.e., supported employment for students Integrate programming and staff training to reflect emergent state and federal mandates Maintain and update policies and serve as compliance officer for department as required by OPWDD, OMH, DOH, and college Monitor student retention, attendance and health concernsJob Requirements:
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Bachelor's degree in Teaching, Psychology or related field from an accredited college, university of foreign equivalency. At least five years working with adults with Intellectual Disabilities. Experience working with programs or providers funded by the Office of People with Developmental Disabilities (OPWDD) One year experience implementing OPWDD compliance activitiesPREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
Two years' experience in professional roles related to compliance, behavior management and training Bilingual in English and Spanish. English and another language will be considered.KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES
Must have the ability to function in a highly collaborative environment and develop effective working relationships with individuals at all levels of the organization Demonstrated commitment to personal and departmental development, professionalism, multicultural education, creativity, collaboration, and initiative Ability to manage multiple tasks and effectively prioritize among competing needs Ability to utilize assessment data to guide development of effective initiatives for continuous improvement Must be proactive, demonstrate sound judgment, have excellent communication and problem-solving skills Must have the ability to handle confidential information in a professional and sensitive manner Must have the ability to communicate clearly and effectively with faculty, staff, administrators, students, parents, and outside community groups Must possess a willingness to take initiative on new projects and facilitate change Ability to effectively work independently as well as part of a team.Additional Information:
Salary range is: $48,400 - $60,500 , commensurate with credentials and relevant experience.
