Assistant Director of Annual Giving and Alumni Engagement Capital University - 4.1 Columbus, OH Job Details Full-time 15 hours ago Benefits Free parking Disability insurance Health insurance Dental insurance Tuition reimbursement Vision insurance Life insurance Qualifications Driver's License Bachelor's degree Full Job Description Capital University seeks a dynamic, collaborative, and solutions-based fundraiser to join the Advancement team as the Assistant Director of Annual Giving and Alumni Engagement. This role is responsible for building strong relationships with alumni and friends, leveraging the passions of the Capital community to support strategic and targeted fundraising campaigns. The position reports jointly to the Director of Annual Giving Programs and the Director of Alumni Engagement.
Primary Roles and Responsibilities:
In partnership with the Director of Alumni Engagement and the Director of Annual Giving Programs, develop a key set of performance indicators and goals/objectives for alumni and friend engagement and fundraising. Ensure evaluation systems are in place to monitor performance and report progress. In partnership with the Director of Alumni Engagement, provide vision, leadership, and oversight to alumni engagement efforts. Plan, coordinate, enhance, and execute key alumni events including, but not limited to, Homecoming, the Athletic Hall of Fame, and the Alumni Awards program. Assist with Alumni Advisory Board meetings. Direct and supervise student Alumni Ambassadors. Develop and implement thoughtful stewardship strategies for annual giving solicitations, end-of-year efforts, and alumni engagement. Coordinate donor recognition and appreciation through events and personalized engagement. Assist the Director of Annual Giving Programs with GiveCampus campaigns, including Day of Giving, Giving Tuesday, and other special fundraising projects. Lead the planning, content development, production and distribution for alumni email newsletters across Main Campus, the Law School, and Trinity Lutheran Seminary, managing scheduling and priorities in partnership with Advancement leadership. Manage the build and execution of Advancement communications and event infrastructure within the University's engagement platform (e.g., Almabase), including emails, event pages, and registration forms. Plan and lead the Capital alumni social media channels, creating and curating content in collaboration with the University's Integrated Marketing & Communications (IMC) team to ensure alignment with overall strategy, branding, and messaging. Ensure all micro-campaigns and volunteer initiatives align with the University's fundraising priorities and broader campaign goals. Attend Advancement meetings and university-wide meetings. Participate in key Advancement special events. Serve as an enthusiastic ambassador of Capital University, articulating its mission, vision, and priorities to internal and external constituencies.
Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree required with 1-2 years of related experience. Ability to think and act strategically while managing special projects at the intersection of alumni engagement and annual giving. Demonstrated ability to support leadership, alumni, and staff in achieving stakeholder engagement goals. Experience with planning and executing alumni relations programs and events or a related field. Proven experience in social media strategy and content creation along with Meta Business Suite. Experience with stewardship practices in fundraising, alumni engagement, or related field. Strong familiarity with Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook. Experience with Raiser's Edge and communication platforms preferred; ability to learn new software and systems quickly. Experience using Qualtrics or similar tools for surveys and engagement tracking. Must be energetic, outgoing, and personable with strong interpersonal skills. Strong organizational skills and attention to detail. Ability to work independently and manage project timelines. Flexible availability to work evenings and weekends, as well as occasional out-of-state travel. Valid motor vehicle license required.
